Private Swimming Coach Job Description

A private swimming coach is required to provide one-on-one swimming lessons to children in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have a certified swimming instructor qualification and experience teaching swimming to children, particularly in a one-on-one setting.

The role involves teaching water safety, basic swimming techniques, and advanced strokes to students of varying ages and abilities. The coach must be able to adapt lesson plans to meet the evolving needs and skill development of each student, while ensuring a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, encouraging, and safety-first approach to teaching. Experience working with children with learning or special needs is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one swimming lessons tailored to each child's skill level, learning pace, and goals
  • Teach water safety, basic swimming techniques, and advanced strokes as appropriate for the child's age and abilities
  • Create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment that encourages confidence and enjoyment in the water
  • Assess each student's progress regularly and modify lesson plans to meet their evolving needs and skill development
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate children with learning or special needs, ensuring inclusivity in every lesson
  • Work closely with families to discuss progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance on how to practice swimming skills outside of lessons

Requirements:

  • Certified swimming instructor qualification from organisations such as the Singapore Swimming Association (SSA), SwimSafer, or equivalent
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Previous experience teaching swimming to children, particularly in a one-on-one setting
  • Experience working with children with learning or special needs is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, encouraging, and safety-first approach to teaching
