Key Responsibilities:

This role involves overseeing the day-to-day management and leadership of a team providing therapy services in a Therapy Department.

The key duties include:

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant therapy standards as stipulated by the Ministry of Health and Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
  • Evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting the therapy needs of residents to facilitate their movement/function
  • Providing guidance and supervision to ensure safe and quality resident care, while maintaining adherence to standards
  • Promoting evidence-based practices in therapy services
  • Maintaining high-quality therapy services in accordance with policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Coordinating the discharge plan for residents to ensure smooth transition back to the community
  • Providing training to caregivers in preparation for resident discharge
  • Monitoring therapy service quality performance indicators and developing an action plan for continuous improvement
Quality Assurance:
  • Reviewing and updating therapy services workflow, policies, and procedures
  • Ensuring team members are familiar with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and emergency protocols
  • Collaborating with other teams to coordinate quality improvement initiatives and projects
  • Maintaining inventory control and equipment maintenance to optimize utilization and safety
  • Coordinating and evaluating therapy services to ensure provision of safe, effective, and quality care
Training and Development:
  • Fostering the development of therapy aides through opportunities for skills upgrading
  • Teaching, mentoring, and supervising therapy aides in performing prescribed therapy services
  • Conducting regular assessments of therapy aides' competencies to ensure target achievement and expected competency levels
  • Orienting and appraising new staff members during induction
  • Assisting in identifying and meeting the training and developmental needs of therapy aides
Administrative Tasks:
  • Utilizing performance management and counselling skills to motivate staff and ensure standard-compliant care delivery
  • Maintaining confidentiality by securely storing confidential files, records, and documents
  • Fostering effective working relationships within the Therapy team and with external customer groups
Requirements:
  • Registration as a Physiotherapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational, management, and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 1 year of experience or above; Senior PT position requires at least 5 years of Physiotherapy experience in healthcare
  • Minimum Diploma in Physiotherapy or above
  • Proficiency in Mandarin for communicating with Chinese-speaking residents is an advantage
  • Experience working with elderly patients is also beneficial
