Job Overview

The Marine Superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage day-to-day marine operations, monitor vessel performance, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the daily marine activities of assigned vessels, guaranteeing adherence to statutory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain strict vigilance over vessel performance, ensuring alignment with ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other pertinent regulations.
  • Conduct regular ship visits and inspections to assess operational standards, safety performance, and crew competence.
  • Offer expert guidance and support to shipboard management on navigational, safety, and operational matters.
  • Thoroughly investigate incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, flag states, class societies, and port state control as required.
  • Collaborate in planning and executing vessel dry-dockings, audits, and safety drills.
  • Nurture strong working relationships with Masters, fostering clear communication and operational alignment.
Requirements

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A Master Mariner's certification with significant sea-going experience as Master, preferably on PCTC or similar vessel types.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a shore-based marine superintendent or operational capacity (PCTC experience highly desirable).
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and safety management systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel for vessel visits, inspections, and audits.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin to effectively interact with international stakeholders.
