Empower Students to Achieve their Career Goals
As a Job Coach, you play a vital role in empowering students to achieve their career aspirations by providing personalized support and guidance throughout the internship and open employment process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to assess students' readiness for internship and open employment.
- Communicate effectively with students to understand their ambitions and goals.
- Assess students' needs and wants.
- SOURCE and arrange job training and internship opportunities for students.
- Provide job matching services for students.
- Conduct site assessments to analyze and evaluate the suitability of the job site.
- Develop and implement employer education and awareness programs/workshops for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare students for the internship experience.
- Provide one-on-one training tailored to the needs of each student.
- Prepare job analyses to identify job duties.
- Devise, plan, and implement job coaching strategies.
- Assist students in discovering and overcoming barriers and setting achievable goals.
- Identify and provide support to develop students' confidence and interest in the job during the internship.
- Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to utilize them effectively.
- Guide students in learning to complete job tasks efficiently.
- Help students develop motivation and skills required for success.
- Provide assistance and guidance to students who need help with everyday work activities or new tasks.
- Craft effective interventions and strategies to coach students.
- Help students develop social and life skills necessary for the workplace.
- Refer students for further training/professional support when needed.
- Advise on workplace accommodations for students.
- Work closely with employers to explore unmet business needs so that jobs can be developed or customized.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students regularly.
- Develop effective job coaching and employment plans tailored to individual needs.
- Develop career plans, action plans, and comprehensive support strategies.
- Advocate for an inclusive work environment.
- Keep accurate records and document students' progress.
- Provide continued job support and supervision to students on the job.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders during the internship period.
- Counsel students on fine-tuning work habits/skills in preparation for employment.
- Negotiate progression to open employment with the employer after the internship concludes.
- Maintain proper and up-to-date records for reporting purposes.
