The WeChat team in Singapore is tasked with managing and enhancing our core product, which includes messaging and social networking functionalities for users worldwide.

As a member of the WeChat team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining global connectivity, redefining mobile communication, and gaining insights into user behavior and preferences.

  • Ensure system reliability by overseeing the deployment, scaling, and maintenance of new and existing online services that connect a vast user base.
  • Utilize your engineering expertise to collaborate with developers, assisting in testing and diagnosing issues with newly launched services, infrastructure, or code before and after they go live.
  • Manage critical incidents and issues affecting end users by focusing on service monitoring, alerts, and swift recovery.
  • Conduct stress testing to evaluate, adjust, and enhance system performance and reliability across various services.
  • Develop and sustain automation tools and systems to minimize repetitive manual tasks and improve site reliability.

Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to facilitate efficient and reliable operations in collaboration with colleagues globally.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience in Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or DevOps for a significant public-facing internet service.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as Bash, Go, or Python.
  • Strong command of the Linux environment with a thorough understanding of the Linux operating system, including kernel, memory, processes, threads, static/shared libraries, IPC, RPCs, and signals.
  • Familiarity with standard networking protocols like HTTP, DNS, SSL, TCP/IP, and ICMP.
  • Experience in large-scale distributed systems, with knowledge of the CAP theorem and microservices.
  • Proficient with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Zabbix.
  • Demonstrated sense of ownership, reliability, and integrity.
  • Passion for automating repetitive manual processes.
