Perception and Autonomy Specialist

We're seeking a talented Perception and Autonomy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our autonomy group, you'll play a critical role in designing and deploying perception pipelines that power our next generation of robots.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in real-time perception, visual SLAM, and sensor calibration, as well as experience with ROS/ROS2, OpenCV, and C++. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop integrated autonomy stacks for fleet deployment.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous systems that combine perception, localization, and decision-making to operate safely and intelligently in real-world environments. You'll be responsible for:

  • Developing real-time perception pipelines for detection, tracking, and freespace estimation.
  • Implementing and optimizing visual SLAM with relocalization and place recognition.
  • Integrating outputs with navigation and safety systems.
  • Calibrating and tuning RGB-D, stereo, LiDAR, and IMU sensors.
  • Evaluating and selecting sensors and algorithms balancing accuracy, cost, and compute.
  • Integrating and optimizing deep learning models for on-robot inference.
  • Maintaining strong collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 0–2 years' experience in robotics/computer vision or exceptional academic projects.
  • Proficiency in C++17+ and Python on Linux.
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 and sensor calibration.
  • Hands-on experience with perception or SLAM pipelines.
  • Familiarity with OpenCV, PCL, and basic deep learning frameworks.

Nice to Have:

A background in embedded/ARM optimization, knowledge of GTSAM, Ceres, or g2o, and experience with semantic mapping or modern tracking frameworks are all valuable assets.
