Trade and Investment Policy Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Trade and Investment Policy Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Centre for the Future of Trade and Investment in advancing Singapore's business interests through international advocacy and outreach.

The incumbent will contribute to cross-border trade and investment policy work, while also engaging stakeholders on Digital and Green Economy Agreements (DEAs and GEAs) to drive awareness and adoption at international platforms such as the APEC BAC, ASEAN BAC, International Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Business 20, World Trade Organisation, East Asia Business Council, and Asia Business Summit.

Key responsibilities include investigating trade and investment issues of concern to the business community, co-creating solutions, and advocating them at international platforms. The role involves working closely with the business community, international partners, and government agencies to reduce barriers, create opportunities, and strengthen Singapore's role in shaping regional and global trade.

The specialist will provide staffing and secretariat support for APEC, ASEAN and East Asia BAC members at meetings and working groups, champion and implement ACCEPT (APEC centre of excellence for paperless trade), and support the reporting officer in the planning and implementation of Singapore's ASEAN Chairmanship and APEC Chairmanship.

Additionally, the role requires supporting the ICC Regional Coordinator for APAC and ICC Singapore as the National Committee, assisting in outreach on DEAs and GEAs by engaging businesses and government stakeholders to raise awareness and identify challenges in market access, tracking and analysing global developments in trade policy, digital economy, and related areas to inform advocacy positions.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Commerce, Economics, Policy & Trade, Business Administration, or a related discipline, with experience or strong interest in international trade, e-commerce, digital trade, technology, or cross-border partnerships. Strong analytical, consultation, planning and communication skills, as well as presentation and event organisation capabilities, are essential.

The ability to relate well to business representatives, build rapport with internal and external stakeholders, and adapt to a fast-paced work environment is crucial.
