Director of Nursing Job Description

The Director of Nursing plays a vital role in healthcare settings, overseeing the Nursing Department to ensure high standards of care. This leadership position requires strategic vision and effective management to drive quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Governance
  • Provide visionary leadership and oversight of the Nursing Department.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and Enhanced Nursing Standards.
  • Clinical Excellence
  • Accurately maintain patient and staff records in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Identify training needs, conduct performance evaluations, and implement staff development plans.
  • Team Management and Development
  • Collaborate with internal committees and management on resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee clinical governance, nursing audits, and infection control measures.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid SNB license.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in nursing.
  • Strong leadership, clinical governance, and team management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with experience in long-term care will be advantageous.
  • Currently working as an ADON in a long-term care facility will also be considered.
