Cloud Database Engineer

This role involves overseeing the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of databases in cloud and on-premises environments.

• We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 instances in cloud/on-prem environments.
• The ideal candidate will configure Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication, and other HA/DR solutions.
• Responsibilities also include performance tuning, query optimization, and implementing indexing strategies.
• Automating administrative tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell is a must.
• Migrating databases to AWS RDS and EC2 using best practices is a key requirement.
• Implementing and managing security, including access control, encryption, and auditing, is a critical aspect of this role.
• Installing, configuring, and administering Oracle 19c databases (on-prem and AWS-hosted) is also required.
• The selected candidate will set up and manage Oracle Data Guard, RMAN backups, and tuning/diagnostics.
• Routine health checks, patching, schema changes, and space management are essential duties.
• Managing provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of RDS SQL Server and Oracle 19c instances is a key responsibility.
• Monitoring RDS performance, configuring backup retention, parameter groups, and applying patches is crucial.
• Handling snapshots, restore operations, and troubleshooting RDS-related issues is also a part of this role.

To be successful in this position, you will need:

• 5+ years of DBA experience with strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience managing Oracle 19c databases.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server and Oracle), CloudWatch, and performance tuning in cloud environments.
• Strong scripting skills in T-SQL, PL/SQL, and PowerShell.
• A deep understanding of HA/DR, backup/restore strategies, and cloud migration approaches.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and automation tools.
• Experience in supporting Oracle Database environments PROD/DR/DEV/QA/UAT.
• Strong experience in Database Administration in Oracle version (11g/12c/18C/19C).
• Experience in supporting high availability Oracle RAC environment (2/3/4 node clusters),Oracle Golden Gate, Oracle Data Guard.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, security issues.
• Strong Knowledge in Operating systems like windows and Unix.
• Generating reports in Oracle database using tools like AWR, ASH, ADDM and manual scripts.
• Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, historical and real time performance monitoring of the Oracle.
• Strong Experience of RMAN, expdp/impdp, Backup/Recovery.
• Experience in evaluating and Installing new software releases, patches, upgrade and Database cloning.
• Experience in developing and executing database security policies, procedures.
• Daily health monitoring of database system and data integrity checks.
• Collect and analyze database performance information, identify and implement solutions for performance problems.
• Experience with other RDBMS,NO SQL, cloud platforms will be added advantage.
• Good communication skills and Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, topology).
• Work with users, vendors to take timely and appropriate steps to resolve and troubleshoot issues impacting service levels and conduct root cause analysis.

Prior experience with the following certifications is desirable:

• Microsoft Certified: SQL Server DBA or Azure Administrator Associate.
• AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
• Oracle Database 19c Administrator Certified Professional.
