We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our team as a Commercial Lawyer.
Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with multiple business units across APAC markets to provide expert legal advice on commercial matters and ad hoc problems, including licensing, market entry, and partnerships.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with banking/payments partners, outsourced service providers, and suppliers.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and provide practical advice to Product and Expansion teams.
- Support initiatives relating to governance within the group with close collaboration from Group Co Sec.
- Engage with external counsel where required.
- Advise on legal rights and duties of subsidiary companies and their directors in the APAC region.
- Work with the broader Legal team to support the wider needs of the company.
- Stay up to date on legal developments in APAC and advise on future-looking initiatives.
- Mentor and upskill relevant directors, officers, and teams.
- Minimum 7-8 years of previous firm or in-house experience in APAC, focusing on payments, financial services, or technology.
- Proven expertise in commercial contract structuring, drafting, and negotiation.
- Ability to balance maturity in corporate governance and operations with practical considerations of fast growth and scaling.
- Track record in project management and clear communication, including being able to focus people behind a common goal and make the complex simple.
- Focus on impact through trusted relationships.
- Get-it-done, collaborative approach to problem-solving and ability to seek creative, innovative solutions for complex matters.
- Maintain sense of camaraderie and good humour while under pressure and working to tight deadlines.
- Well-organised and able to manage and prioritise numerous projects simultaneously.
- Flexible and agile, and able to adapt to changing demands.
