Marine Operations Manager

The Marine Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring vessels adhere to maritime regulations and codes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Compliance with ISM/ISPS Codes, MARPOL, SOLAS, SIRE/CDI inspections, and flag state requirements.
  • Maintenance of safe operational standards, voyage planning, and terminal expectations.
  • Guidance on voyage instructions, tank cleaning, cargo operations, and risk management activities.
  • Leadership during vetting inspections and external audits.
  • Documentation of initial reports for internal and external inspections, audits, and vetting processes.
  • Scheduled and unscheduled marine visits, navigational audits, safety observations, and behavioral assessments.
  • Investigation of accidents, near misses, and non-conformities.
Key Requirements:
  • Valid Class 1 (Master) Certificate of Competency.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Marine Operations Manager.
  • At least 2 years of sailing experience as Master on chemical tankers.
  • Proficiency in the SIRE Vetting process.
  • Strong understanding of international maritime legislation and codes.
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out navigational audits and supporting incident investigations.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical ability, results-focused leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to travel at short notice.
