The Senior Assistant Director, Medical Library & Heritage Centre will strategize, plan, and direct the overall operations of Medical Library to provide tailored professional services and information support to fulfil the information needs of LKCMedicine faculty, researchers, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, oversee and manage Medical Library & Heritage Centre to ensure the achievement of the stated objectives and targets.

  • Guide and oversee the development and implementation of the library's annual work plan, fiscal year budget and operational priorities.

  • Preservation and archival of the important moments and memories of the school for the Heritage Centre

  • Plan and oversee the development of outreach and liaison activities with primary user groups.

  • Strategize, direct, and implement plans for the development of a relevant and up-to-date print and electronic collection that adequately meet teaching, learning and research needs.

  • Plan and oversee the provision of professional information or reference services to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the school.

  • Initiate and develop professional services for users based on knowledge of users' information needs and feedback.

  • Strategize, plan, and implement programmes and activities that promote the effective use of tools and resources to support the learning and research activities within the school.

  • Review, develop and deliver instructional workshops and tutorials on information/data literacy, subject-specific research resources and academic publishing tools in collaboration with faculty.

Requirements

  • A good bachelor's degree with a master's degree in library or information science or equivalent.

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of academic library resources, systems, services, and trends.

  • At least 4 years of professional working experience with management experience preferred.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with users, colleagues, and other internal and external people.

  • Adapt and thrive in rapidly changing working environment and effectively take on multiple roles and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
