Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Cloud Database Administrator (Cloud DBA) is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing databases in the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) environment. This role involves deployment, maintenance, monitoring, security, and performance tuning of relational and non-relational databases in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience: At least 2 years in database administration in cloud environments.
  • Preferred Certifications:AWS Certified Database – Specialty
    Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
    Google Professional Data Engineer
Key Responsibilities1. Database Administration
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain relational and non-relational databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Set up high availability, replication, and failover configurations.
  • Implement database security, access controls, and encryption.
2. Performance Monitoring & Optimization
  • Monitor database storage, performance metrics, and query execution.
  • Optimize indexes, partitions, and caching strategies.
  • Set up cloud-native database monitoring tools (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Stackdriver).
3. Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Perform regular database backups and recovery using cloud-native tools.
  • Implement point-in-time recovery and failover mechanisms.
4. Database Security & Compliance
  • Set up IAM roles, encryption, and security best practices for database access.
  • Ensure compliance with government security policies.
5. Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution
  • Work with application teams and cloud providers to resolve database-related issues.
  • Analyze logs and alerts to identify potential issues before failures occur.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, Google Bigtable).
  • Expertise in database security, performance tuning, and backup strategies.
  • Experience with cloud automation and scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Python, SQL scripting).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in GCC or highly secure cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native database tools and automation.
