Roles & Responsibilities

The Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and supporting databases hosted on virtual instances in the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC/GCC+) environment. The role focuses on ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security of cloud-based databases while coordinating with approved CSPs for service-related activities.


2 years contract, extendable.

Key Responsibilities

Database Management:

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain databases hosted in the GCC environment.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of cloud-based database systems.

Operational Support:

  • Provide support for database-related aspects of server and storage management services.
  • Submit service requests to approved CSPs for database support as needed.

Asset & Contract Management:

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory for databases, including lease, warranty, and maintenance contract details.

Optimization & Troubleshooting:

  • Perform regular performance tuning, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and collaborate with CSP support teams to resolve problems promptly.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Certifications:

Must possess at least one of the following:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience managing databases in public cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure).
Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of MSSQL.
  • Familiarity with MariaDB, Azure Cosmos DB, or PostgreSQL is an added advantage.
Additional (Preferred) Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • AWS Certified Database
Technical & Soft Skills
  • Proficiency in managing cloud-based databases, including performance tuning and backup/recovery procedures.
  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture and database security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills to effectively coordinate with stakeholders and CSP support teams.
