WHAT TO EXPECT

​The Advisory & Practice Standards department is seeking a Head of Department to lead and executes the department's strategy to ensure the firm balances compliance with applicable regulations and business requirements. The department ensures all regulatory requirements are met, thus enabling the business to operate smoothly and effectively.

This individual should understand the business's 'pulse' and the wider industry ecosystem in which the firm operates. He/She will need to be familiar with regulatory thinking and expectations. You will also need to stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and best practices while maintaining an open mind to accepting new ways of working. To achieve this, the department works across internal silos, across the first, second and third-line functions. You will be required to establish robust reporting and escalation frameworks, receive support from the board, senior management, and managers, and have the authority to manage communication with supervisors.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Business Support:

  • Spearhead and collaborate with various teams to understand business challenges and bridge regulatory requirements thereby ensuring alignment to organisational objectives
  • Transform complex regulatory jargon into clear, easy-to-understand language that can be seamlessly executed at operational working level
  • Adopt a strategic approach which allows deconstructing complex issues into clear, actionable solutions with the focus on key priorities that drives business growth

Marketing Clearance:

  • Establish the marketing clearance framework and SOPs on all social media platforms to ensure alignment and compliance to the company's guidelines
  • Develop a comprehensive playbook for business and internal stakeholders that allows for process standardisation, guidance and best practices for decision-making
  • Oversee a team and ensure a comprehensive review of all marketing materials from internal stakeholders and agency leaders while still maintaining accountability

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Establish the sales and advisory practices to ensure that it complies with the regulatory requirements and not compromising the efficiency of business operations
  • Govern the conduct of the appointed representatives and organisation leaders and set the policy standards and ensuring adherence to the guidelines

WHO YOU ARE

  • At least 8 years' relevant experience in the insurance industry or financial services industry
  • Highly disciplined, independent, organised, result-oriented and analytical
  • Self-driven with a proven ability to work in a dynamic environment and a proven track record of exceeding goals and objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage various stakeholders
  • Thrive in a fluid, dynamically changing environment
