Roles & Responsibilities

Position: Engineering (Tuas)

Overview:

You will be part of the core technical team working at Singapore's waste management facilities, including:

  • Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) – a large-scale waste management infrastructure project.
  • Tuas South Incineration Plant (TSIP) – an operational waste-to-energy plant.

Your role will involve supporting engineers in either project management for IWMF or operations and maintenance for TSIP.

Work Scope

A. IWMF Project Team Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers in supervising construction progress.
  • Work with project consultants, government agencies, and stakeholders on facility design.
  • Ensure construction, erection, and installation meet design specifications and statutory requirements.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) locally and overseas to verify equipment/system quality and performance.

B. TSIP Operations & Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Lead a unit of technical specialists and coordinate maintenance work with contractors to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient operations.
  • Implement preventive maintenance and overhaul programs for electrical and control equipment (e.g., turbo-generators, motors, switchgears, high/low-tension equipment, distributed control systems, field instruments).
  • Administer contracts for mechanical, EICA, or building services equipment.
  • Enforce permit-to-work systems and safe work practices; supervise contractor work for quality and safety.
  • Prepare standard operating and safety procedures, and equipment testing/changeover programmes.
  • Perform shift work in waste-to-energy facilities when required.
  • Support safety initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and operational excellence projects.
Job Requirements:
  • Education: Diploma or Nitec in any Engineering discipline.

    Diploma holders: Preferably 3 years of relevant experience (fresh graduates may be considered).

    Nitec holders: Preferably 6–8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Licensed Electrical Worker, Boiler Attendant Certificate, or Workplace Safety & Health Officer preferred.
  • Strong technical background and analytical skills; knowledge of solid waste management is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Navisworks and Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Mature, independent, resourceful, and a strong team player with good communication skills.
  • Able to work in waste-to-energy facilities and perform rotating shift work on weekends and public holidays if necessary.
