Procurement Manager

The Procurement Manager for the Food & Beverage (F&B) division is responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement of all food, beverage, packaging, and related supplies required for operations. The role ensures timely sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of high-quality ingredients and products while maintaining cost control, supplier relationships, and adherence to food safety and regulatory standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining the quality and efficiency of the supply chain and ensuring that the company's operational needs are met while meeting industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Selection & Management:Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of food and beverage products, packaging, and other related materials.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring the best terms, quality, and reliability.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and compliance with specifications. Resolve any issues that arise with suppliers. - Food Safety & Compliance:Ensure compliance with all local, state, and international food safety standards, including HACCP, FDA, and other relevant regulations.
Ensure that suppliers meet food safety and quality assurance standards by conducting regular audits and inspections.
Maintain proper documentation for all purchases to comply with regulatory requirements. - Procurement Planning & Forecasting:Collaborate with the culinary and production teams to understand and anticipate procurement needs for food and beverage products.
Develop procurement plans and forecasts based on sales projections and menu changes to ensure timely availability of products.
Manage product lead times and ensure product availability, especially for seasonal and perishable items. - Cost Management & Budgeting:Monitor the procurement budget to ensure that purchasing activities remain within financial constraints.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or safety.
Analyze market trends and adjust purchasing strategies to maximize value and minimize costs.
Conduct price negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms. - Inventory & Stock Control:Work closely with the warehouse and inventory teams to ensure optimal inventory levels, prevent stockouts, and avoid overstocking.
Implement inventory control best practices to minimize waste, especially for perishable items, and optimize stock rotation.
Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery and efficient distribution of products to all F&B locations. - Risk Management & Supplier Diversity:Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, food shortages, or supplier failures.
Develop a diverse supplier base to reduce dependency on single-source suppliers and ensure business continuity.
Create contingency plans for critical supply chain interruptions, especially for key food and beverage ingredients. - Data Analysis & Reporting:Track procurement data to analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and cost efficiencies.
Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, savings, inventory levels, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) for senior management.
Use procurement data to make informed decisions about supplier selection, purchasing strategies, and cost control. - Team Leadership & Development:Lead, manage, and develop a team of procurement professionals.
Provide training on procurement processes, food safety regulations, and best practices.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the procurement department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in the food and beverage industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, regulations (HACCP, FDA, etc.), and the F&B supply chain.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting supplier relationships.
- Experience in managing and optimizing procurement budgets.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Proficiency in procurement software and inventory management systems.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams.
