Roles & Responsibilities

Home for Good, Singapore Ltd. (HFG-SG) is on a mission to champion fostering and adoption to achieve its vision of a loving home for every child in need.


Reporting to the HFG-SG board of directors, the Executive Director (ED) oversees the strategic and operational efficiencies of HFG-SG’s programmes and staff. The ED is responsible for ensuring that the strategic priorities of HFG-SG are accomplished on schedule. The ED will develop and implement fundraising plans. The ED oversees the hiring and managing of staff. As a leader of the organisation, the ED is required to have excellent communication skills and be decisive. The ED must carry out his/her role with integrity and trustworthiness.


This role is currently envisaged as a part-time role, although it could be expanded into a full-time role over time once sufficient additional funding is raised.


Objectives of this role

  • Work closely with board directors and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization;
  • Oversee daily operations of the organisation, providing executive direction for programme strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance;
  • Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations, and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organisation’s mission;
  • Increase awareness of the organisation by being the main spokesperson and liaison with local media;
  • Develop an actionable plan for fundraising and managing monthly cash flow; and
  • Comply with laws and regulations, ensuring adherence to charity reporting and regulatory requirements in accordance with the charity regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create strategic plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with the board of directors;
  • Meet annual fundraising goals, in partnership with board of directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources;
  • Be the face of the organisation and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programmes;
  • Build and lead an effective team that’s dedicated to fulfilling the organisation’s mission through highly successful programmes, community engagement, and fundraising; and
  • Cultivate and foster strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, funders, donors and authorities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and engage diverse stakeholders;
  • Exceptional written, communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles for non-profit organisations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience / diploma); field of study is flexible
  • Eight or more years of experience in senior management
  • Experience in managing budgets
