The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, creativity, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, good culinary skills, and a passion for delivering memorable dining experiences.
Menu Development and Planning:
- Create and develop innovative and appealing menus that align with the restaurant's concept and target audience.
- Stay updated on culinary trends, seasonal ingredients, and new cooking techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting.
Staff Management and Training:
- Schedule staff shifts and coordinate kitchen operations to ensure smooth service and efficient workflow.
- Provide training and mentorship to kitchen staff, ensuring they are proficient in culinary techniques, kitchen procedures, and safety protocols.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative working environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
- Ensure adherence to all food safety and hygiene standards
- Lead by example in promoting cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety practices among kitchen staff.
- To evaluate the performance of all kitchen staff for their confirmation and annual assessment
Kitchen Operations:
- Oversee the plating and presentation of food items according to established standards and recipes.
- Monitor kitchen equipment and coordinate with the maintenance team for repairs and maintenance
Cost Control & Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory levels and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste and spoilage.
- Manage labour costs effectively to meet budgetary constraints.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, such as front-of-house staff, to ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen and the dining area.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop promotional activities and special events
Key Requirements
- Applicants must be willing to work shift duties including weekends and public holidays.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the F&B industry.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Good people management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to commence work within a short period would be advantageous.
