Manage the Steelmaking Coal equity sales book for optimization and execution, to ensure the highest sustainable value generation. The key in this is to have a fully integrated view with a focus on value maximization through the logistics chain through to customer delivery. This is done by supporting sales through analysis, book optimisation and also in keeping a focus on customer delivery and satisfaction.


What you’ll do

Leadership

  • Provide guidance and leadership by optimizing the sales book and maintaining strong working relationships with Singapore and Brisbane based colleagues.
  • Accountable for the sales book and vessel scheduling of Steelmaking Coal equity volume, considering a holistic view of the inputs from Sales Managers, Technical Managers and ISOP.


Book management:

  • Support the Head of Sales in the strategic direction of the business.
  • Assist in determining the optimal Steelmaking Coal equity demand plan, for allocation across regions, delivery period, quality and contractual obligations.
  • Develop insightful conclusions and fact-based recommendations to support the development of the monthly, quarterly and annual demand plan for sales strategies.
  • Liaising with ISOP team for demand changes, production updates, and liaise with customers for schedule optimization.
  • Work with Sales Manager to enhance the customer experience through understanding of the commodity including, quality, tonnage and timing, availability for sale to customers.
  • Work with relevant internal teams to enhance digital and system-based solutions for process efficiency.
  • Lead price and ARP performance reporting against targets.


Risk & Governance

  • Ensure all activities are compliant with Marketing’s risk framework.
  • Maintain systems with contract and vessel information on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Produce ad hoc, weekly and monthly performance reporting as required.


Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Technical, Trade Finance and ISOP teams.
  • Develop regular reports and analysis/recommendations for a range of internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Steelmaking Coal Market fundamentals.
  • Industry counterparts and global trade-flows.
  • Strong technical understanding of Steelmaking Coal
  • Strong understanding of marketing fundamentals (i.e. pricing, delivery strategy, value chain dynamics).
  • Strong negotiation skills, for both internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience within a complex organisation across different countries and jurisdictions, cultures, interfacing with stakeholders.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial – seek, propose, and develop new value adding models to increase Anglo American’s Steelmaking Coal profits beyond existing lines of business
  • Analytical minded – able to disaggregate problems and make quantitative estimates of value creation for initiatives.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work across cultural boundaries
