Purpose of the Job

L Beauty is a Joint Venture between LVMH (French group) and LUXASIA (Singaporean group) in charge of the distribution of 6 brands of LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics, including the American brand BENEFIT COSMETICS, in South-East Asia.


Within this multi-brands/markets environment, BENEFIT business controller supports BENEFIT brand in all financial aspects including monthly management reporting, budgets, and all ad-hoc finance analysis ; constantly reviews and improves the level of business monitoring by developing relationships with all members of the organization and creating clear and detailed analysis. She/he also ensures best practices and coherent financial processes across, making recommendations and implementing as appropriate.


The business controller takes part and challenges key business decisions using relevant reporting and analysis, and presenting data in a commercial way in order to optimize efficiency of activities and costs. She/he is the key finance partner to the Sales & Marketing organisation.


L Beauty being created and operating in a dynamic but challenging environment, a start-up mind-set & autonomy skills are keys for this role.


Main Responsibilities

BENEFIT management and subsidiaries (6 markets) key contact for SEA local markets business activities:

  • Guide & support the regional and local teams on business analysis & decision making (local report, specific HQ report…)
  • Share actual and budget activities with BENEFIT HQ, APAC/SEA/L Beauty/Asia region and local teams
  • Refine appropriate analysis to be set-up for SEA, in coordination with business needs, existing JV frame and HQ requirements

Within that scope


1. Actuals

  • Work closely with local (GMs and finance), regional, JV and HQ teams and develop excellent knowledge of BENEFIT SEA markets operating environment
  • Analyze the overall delivery of company financial targets on a regular basis and make recommendations to the business as necessary including P&Ls and Cash flow drivers (Stocks, Capex…)
  • Evaluate profitability of the brand by market and for total region
  • Analyze the business risk and prepare back-up plan for business target achievement
  • Prepare monthly analysis of the main Key Performance Indicators (on Net Sales, Retail Sales, Exp./OP, DOI, Stock in Trade, Capex…), monthly Scorecard and profitability by market/channel/door/… in accordance with brand management needs
  • Maintain cost control responsibility; provide relevant reports and rationale, with recommended action plans to the business for tight budget control

2. Forecasts (Budget, Revision, Landing, ...)

  • Prepare and drive budget & revisions in accordance with parent company requirements & timetable, working with Benefit HQ, Sales & Marketing and Finance teams across the region to gather information in a timely & accurate way
  • Maintain cost control responsibility; provide relevant reports and rationale, with recommended action plans to the business for tight budget control
  • Prepare and drive 3 years long-term strategy plan

3. Ad hoc Analyses & Projects

  • Prepare/review the investments requests
  • Participate in new business opportunities preparation, simulations and operations
  • Continually seek to improve processing efficiency and controlling capabilities of the company
  • Provide analytical support to cross-function initiatives and ad hoc projects or analysis for the Region
  • Be involved and assist in the auditing process (internal mainly) & continuously reinforce internal control requirements
  • Be a key contact person with Countries/L Beauty/LUXASIA and the LFCS audit team to drive the retail audits process
  • Support with financial reports and analysis for JV/regional/global meetings

Profile

  • Business Administration degree or Accounting major/Business school
  • Strong experience in a financial position within an international group
  • A minimum of 5 years of controlling experience. Strong knowledge of accounting needed.
  • Experience in the beauty industry and understanding of its product life cycles would be a +
