Directed Energy Deposition (DED) is akey technology for generative and regenerative applications at theheart of ARTC's remanufacturing and manufacturing research. We arelooking for people with the passion and drive to join us as part ofthe Remanufacturing Process Technology (RPT) Group in advancing ourresearch to solutions for industry, and to develop the technologyas well as our capabilities as we strive to become the centre ofexcellence in DED for the next generation of sustainable andautonomous manufacturing.

The RemanufacturingProcess Technology Group also consists of research teams in surfaceadditive and enhancement technology (e.g. cold spray), advancedmachining technology and nnovative automation solutions for whichindividuals may also explore.

JOBDESCRIPTION

The scope of theresearch engineer includes process development, quality evaluation,engineering design, as well as establishing process monitoring& control and more as described further in thefollowing.

Responsibilities:

-Lead/ Support the technical execution and delivery of projects,including project scoping activities and customer engagement aswell as presentations and report writing

-Lead /Support areas of capability development in line with the technicalroadmap of the Group and Division, fostering collaboration withother teams / Groups / research entities asneeded

-Develop parameters, depositionstrategies, including required pre-processing and post-processing,for laser and/or arc-based processes for cladding, repair andadditive manufacturing for manufacturing and remanufacturingapplications

-Perform material evaluation (e.g.microstructural and defects analysis) and material testing, as wellas the necessary sample preparation for the DED generatedparts

-Operate robotic and/or CNC systems forDED and hybrid processes

-Develop customizedCAD/CAM modules for advanced toolpath planning in robotic machiningand directed energy deposition process (DED)processes.

-Ensure equipment and operatorscompliance, develop / maintain standard operating procedures, riskassessments and safe working procedures, provide guidance /training as required

-Other secondary roles forthe team, Group, Organisation andA*STAR

JOBREQUIREMENTS

-At least abachelor's degree in Materials Science / Mechanical Engineering, orany relevant discipline.

-2 Years of experience

-Fulfil the requirements for the NationalEnvironment Agency (NEA) N3 laserlicence

-Knowledge and expertise in directedenergy deposition, welding, or additive manufacturing, preferablywith prior working experience in any of theseareas

-Proficiency in CAD/CAM/CAE software,preferably in Siemens NX / Solidworks /PowerMill

-Proficiency and/or knowledge inprogramming such as G-code, Python, MatLab, C++,etc.

-Preferably with experience working in anindustry-driven R&D environment

-Strongcommunication and excellent writingskills
