Summary

As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise for GSA IT and its customers.

Position : Office of GSA IT, Office of Digital Infrastructure Technologies (IDT), Infrastructure Management Division (IDTO).

This is a virtual/remote duty location and will be determined after selection is made.

Duties

The Office of Digital Infrastructure Technologies implements, operates, maintains and supports GSA's IT infrastructure, systems, software and applications. IT customers are supported through the GSA IT Service Desk. Additionally this office will provide on-site staff and quality support throughout GSA.

You will be responsible for the following duties :

Provides leadership and oversight of government and contractor performance to orchestrate IT service delivery of digital infrastructure technologies, including platform management, database management and administration, data/voice/video network, telecommunications, remote access technologies, cloud-based technologies, and audio/visual communications management. Determines needs, scope, and priorities of projects to support the organization as well as a wide variety of supporting business functions, considering the full range of technological, economic, business, and political factors that may have an impact. As appropriate, develops, implements, and ensures compliance with plans, policies and standards, infrastructures and architectures that establish the technical operational platform of the technical service portfolio. Evaluates business system requirements, assesses policy needs, and develops policies to govern IT activities throughout the organization.  Takes a leadership role in resolving problems and taking actions to advance the fundamental goals and objectives of programs when intense resistance is encountered due to significant organizational or philosophical conflict, competing objectives, or major resource limitations. Undertakes or directs special studies. Prepares, supervises, or directs the preparation of special reports or position papers involving broad aspects of IT concern. Takes a leadership role in establishing and strengthening relations with other organizations to establish capabilities that will support business needs for the entire GSAIT. Provides leadership and high-level expertise in the definition of training and career development requirements for Information Technology personnel and directs and development activities. Researches, evaluates and provides feedback on problems, trends, and patterns in the infrastructure and initiates the necessary corrective actions to resolve recurring operational abnormalities. Performs needed analysis to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions and consults with senior management and customer agencies to identify specific requirements. Conducts feasibility studies and develops business cases for the application of IT solutions and develops cost estimates for new or modified systems. Ensures GSA infrastructure hardware, software, and service configurations properly interface with other GSA business systems and comply with GSA and government-wide IT policies, regulations, standards, and legislation. Responsible for the development and execution of infrastructure services disaster recovery plans and provides 24-hour emergency coverage for infrastructure services. Serves in a supervisory capacity with responsibility for the day-to-day operations and management of a Division to include, but not limited to, hiring, performance evaluations, awards, leave approval and training for government personnel. Ensures effective conduct of financial management of a Division through planning, formulation and execution of budget. Furnishes advice, guidance, and assistance to subordinate supervisors on important problems and developments, interpretation of policies, regulations and standards, and methods of improving GSA IT programs.
