Economics & Investment Strategy

We oversee the Total Portfolio to secure consistent returns over the long run, allowing flexibility in navigating shorter-term paths.

What value can you bring to this position?

You will communicate GIC's strategic vision, assess asset exposures and benchmarks, introduce new return streams and investment frameworks, and enhance the risk-reward profile of the GIC Portfolio.

You will define the landscape of the global macro investment environment, engage in strategic analysis, and contribute to the Global Research Network. Opportunity will be given to develop medium-term investment strategies for the overall portfolio and assist in managing key top-level portfolios.

What responsibilities will you have as an Emerging Markets Equity Strategist?

  • Lead in developing the emerging market equity strategy for the GIC Portfolio
  • Create actionable investment proposals at the aggregate EM equity level, as well as at the country and sector levels
  • Collaborate with teammates on scenario analysis and offer advice on optimal asset allocation across global Emerging Markets
  • Assist in refining the team's investment framework and processes

What qualifications or skills are required for this role?

  • 7-10 years' experience in analyzing emerging market equities, in a senior role or as part of a strategy team
  • Direct involvement in testing market and economic variables, constructing top-down market models
  • Strong analytical skills, proficient in MS Office products, and familiar with market data services like Bloomberg, Datastream, etc.
  • Knowledge of R/Python is advantageous but not mandatory
  • A solid grasp of fundamental investment principles and drivers of returns, along with sound economic and market judgement
  • Ability to develop independent viewpoints and investment recommendations
  • Connecting insights effectively, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, capable of collaborative work and encouraging internal discussions
