Overview:

The Ares Legal & Compliance Department manages Ares' global Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance functions. The Compliance and Regulatory teams work collaboratively on global regulatory matters including the Advisers Act, Investment Company Act, FINRA, regional compliance, and Financial Crimes Prevention.

Role Summary:

Ares is hiring an Associate Vice President, Compliance, to handle regulatory activities in Asia Pacific, focusing on Singapore. The role involves managing internal compliance monitoring, conflict management, and collaborating with the global Compliance and Regulatory functions.

We seek a self-motivated compliance professional excited about the challenges in the Asia Pacific region's evolving regulatory landscape. The role is best suited for individuals comfortable in a dynamic environment.

Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities:

  • Identify & stay updated on compliance requirements for a MAS licensed fund management corporation in Singapore
  • Assist in preparing filings to ensure MAS compliance
  • Liaise with regulators
  • Update firm on compliance requirements and develop policies accordingly
  • Support global and regional internal processes and policies
  • Conduct compliance monitoring programs
  • Manage internal compliance monitoring and conflict management
  • Handle intra-group reporting and coordinate with stakeholders
  • Conduct compliance trainings
  • Provide guidance on compliance matters
  • Assist in handling regulatory matters of other jurisdictions
  • Assist in various regulatory topics
  • Perform ad-hoc assignments

Education:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Professional qualification preferred (CA, ACA, CPA, ACAMS)

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • 6-8 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial institution
  • Expertise in Singapore MAS regulations
  • Understanding of conflict management
  • Experience in internal compliance monitoring
  • Knowledge of other regulatory matters
  • Proactive management approach
  • Excellent command of English
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with good judgment
  • Ownership spirit and ability to work independently
  • Multi-tasking and ability to work under pressure
