Job Purposes

Provide first line technical sales support of technology solutions in refinery, petrochemical and similar industries through client and sales activities including proposal/estimation making, which requires a technical background equivalent to a baccalaureate degree in engineering.

Working closely as part of a cross-functional team, including Business Development (BD), software support and development specialists, this role will combine your engineering knowledge, simulation software skills and business acumen to help sustain and grow KBC's software business globally.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Sales Support - Work closely with the Sales teams to identify and develop new opportunities for technology business. Participate in the planning and execution of sales strategy. Conduct demonstrations of the technology solution and answer technical questions as part of the sales process. Maintain a high level of customer engagement and satisfaction and prompt resolution of issues as they arise.
  • Engineering Solutions Design - Contribute to the development of and implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate solution design to meet client needs. Coordinate development of proof of concept models for new opportunities.
  • Product Roadmap & Strategy Specification - Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of senior colleagues, working closely with Product Management, to support the alignment of product roadmap and strategy and the evaluation of the effectiveness of technology improvements.
  • Contract Management – Support delivery of client contract outcomes by acting as a primary point of contact for technical support.
  • Solution Improvement/Innovation - Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
  • Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response - Gather information and resources to provide input to technical scope and technical product information in proposal development and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations/request for proposal/tender, to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
  • Product Knowledge - Help others get the most out of product knowledge by offering support and advice both within KBC/Yokogawa and externally, participate in marketing events, conferences and organizing training/information sessions where appropriate.
  • Product and Solution Development - Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Lead and monitor software trials with potential customers. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
  • Project Management - Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Personal Capability Building - Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, or equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • Experienced Chemical Engineer with ability to work unsupervised in a global, virtual environment with a flexible attitude to support team members as and when the need arises and to liaise effectively with colleagues across departments.
  • Knowledge of refinery/petrochemicals industry and processes.
  • Knowledge of up/mid-stream and other industry sectors such as chemicals, fertiliser and related industries is an advantage.
  • Experience with modeling utility systems.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage a complex workload essential.
  • Technical sales experience would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and oral English.
  • Candidate proficient in other regional languages is a plus to liaise and provide support to regional clients.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with colleagues and clients professionally.
  • Prior experience of working in a multinational organization and as part of a global team is an advantage.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to assist others.
  • Display a high level of professionalism towards colleagues and as an ambassador of the company.
  • Must be a self-starter who demonstrates a flexible approach.
  • Ability to travel as and when required approximately 30% of the time.
