Associate Director, SIS Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy:
· To assist in the administration and management of the Bank's whistleblowing programme to minimise financial losses, reputational and regulatory risks, operational risk events involving criminal conduct, dishonesty or deliberate breaches of policies or regulations.
· Contribute and drive continual improvements in the SIS investigation process by identifying policy and standard revisions to continually improve and optimise investigations.
· Manage the Bank's whistleblowing channels
· Manage the case management system for SIS including issuing user access rights and resolving system issues
· As required, to provide project management and business analyst support
Business
· Build and maintain an effective and constructive relationship with all key business and functional stakeholders that is based on trust, capability and integrity, providing timely, responsive and quality support to enable the Bank to achieve its strategic objectives
· Work closely with the SIS Analytics team to understand analytics requirements
Processes
· Manage queries and other reporting requirements related to the whistleblowing programme
· As required provide MI related support
· Where required, liaise with SIS and other teams to understand relevant Bank requirements
· Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Analyse opportunity for automation and provide input for the same
· To ensure TAT, data accuracy, security and confidentiality are maintained. Update and maintain the process documents for the team
· Building strong partnerships with all internal/external stakeholders that allow end-to-end seamless delivery
People & Talent
· As required, maintain relationships with the independent external vendor appointed by the Bank to host its confidential reporting website to support the Speaking Up programme
· Engage and manage stakeholders to ensure that appropriate senior management are kept informed of relevant matters
· Sound relationship management of other functions within the Bank to ensure the effective and efficient use of investigative resources
Risk Management
· As required, assist with managing the Risk Management Framework for SIS, including performing regular Control Sample Tests for all investigations and reporting
· Apply all relevant Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and standards to manage risks
· To undertake periodic self-assessment on key controls to assess the proper functioning and adequacy of existing controls
Governance
· Reinforce an effective and exemplary risk and control culture and further strengthen the control environment
· Act to minimise operational loss and audit failures and take proactive measures to respond to matters arising
· As required, support SIS teams to ensure that they are adhering to the highest standards of risk management and control
· In the event of serious regulatory breaches, or where risk tolerances have been breached, ensure senior management are informed and that actions are taken quickly to remediate and/or activities are ceased
Regulatory & Business Conduct
· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Our Ideal Candidate
· 5+ years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Investigative and / or whistleblower programme experience
· Previous regulatory experience or financial services industry
· Sound working knowledge of MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Sound judgment. Excellent collaborative and team playing skills. Diplomacy, empathy and a 'can-do attitude'. Politeness, sensitivity, and the ability to gently, but professionally stand your ground when needed
· An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures, and specific transactions. Personal authority and integrity Independence, creativity, resourcefulness, and resilience
· Must possess ability to assess risk, strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity
· Sound understanding of the Whistleblowing Rules introduced by FCA and PRA
· Where applicable, sound understanding of the Bank's relevant policy and standards.
· Sound understanding of the Operational Risk Framework
· Well developed, flexible interpersonal skills appropriate at all levels of engagement within an organisation: ability to simplify complex and technical issues for non-technical audience
· Ability to prioritize multiple deliverables with demonstrable organizational and time management skills.
· Effective collaborative skills that contribute to positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
· Strong project management and organisational skills
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity
· Good time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly.
· Understanding of regulatory banking conduct environment & should be fully aware of associated Operational and Regulatory Risks
