Singlife is also an official signatory of the United Nations Principles for Sustainable Insurance and the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment, affirming its commitment to finding a better way to sustainability.


The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time.


Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead API Development and Integration: Supervise the comprehensive design, development, and integration of APIs utilizing Java, OKTA, Mulesoft, and Flex gateway. Ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability of API solutions.
  • BAU Team Management: Provide strategic leadership and guidance to BAU teams. Efficiently manage support tickets, prioritize tasks based on their impact and urgency, and implement best practices to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Incident Management: Actively manage and resolve production incidents under high-pressure situations. Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and establish preventive measures.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in both production and non-production environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical challenges, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruptions.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders, team members, and management. Provide regular updates on project progress, potential risks, and any issues. Foster a collaborative environment to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage Unplanned Tasks: Efficiently manage unplanned tasks and activities, ensuring prompt resolution. Adapt to shifting priorities and unexpected challenges without impacting ongoing projects.

Team:

  • Directly responsible for 2 team members. Responsible to keep the lights on for OKTA, Argo, Mulesoft and Flex Gateway.

Requirements:

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience as an API Lead or in a similar role, with extensive knowledge of Java, OKTA, Mulesoft, Flexgateway, AWS, ECS, Docker, and similar technologies.
  • Strong incident management skills with the capability to resolve issues under pressure. Proficiency in API design, development, and integration. Familiarity with security best practices and performance optimization techniques.
  • Proven ability to work in BAU teams, managing support tickets and troubleshooting/debugging in production and non-production environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Education

  • Academic: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification(s): Certification in Java, Mulesoft, AWS and Docker.
