Roles & Responsibilities

Legal Manager (Engineering Department with head office in China)
Education:

· Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent, with a valid legal qualification (such as a practicing lawyer certificate in Singapore) preferred.

Work Experience:

· At least 5 years of legal work experience, preferably in the engineering, construction, or real estate industry.

· Familiar with Singapore and international laws and regulations, particularly those related to the engineering and construction industries.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Proficient in Contract Law, Company Law, Construction Law, Labour Law, Intellectual Property Law, and other relevant laws, with strong legal analysis and risk management capabilities.

· Ability to independently draft, review, and amend legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and memoranda.

· Some experience in handling legal affairs related to engineering projects, including contract negotiation, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.

· Familiar with common legal disputes and litigation processes in the construction industry, with the ability to provide effective legal support and solutions.

· Strong communication skills and a team player, able to collaborate with different departments and external legal advisors.

Responsibilities:

· Review, draft, and amend contracts and agreements related to the company's engineering projects, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

· Review reports, letters (sensitive because TAFEP officer will be looking through your job posting), agreements, documents, and emails from relevant parties and to parties, timely discovery of claims and counterclaims.

· Draft and review external letters, MoM, especially claim letters, and track the progress of the claim.

· Corporate compliance management.

· Provide legal advice, assess legal risks of engineering projects, and assist with corporate decision-making.

· Handle legal disputes with third parties and coordinate litigation and arbitration matters.

· Kept track of changes in relevant laws and regulations in Singapore and internationally and provided timely legal advice to senior management.

· Provide legal training to company employees to improve legal and compliance awareness.

· Other works arranged by the Company.

· High sense of responsibility and professional ethics, with strong confidentiality awareness.

· Detail-oriented with strong analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

· I can work under pressure and manage time effectively.

Language Requirements:

· Proficient in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills to handle legal documents in English.

· Must be able to read and write Chinese reports received from or to head office in China and do translations whenever necessary

Being able to start work on short notice will be an advantage
