This role is managing & mentoring a team of logistics staff who are responsible for handling cargo related matters for the integrated logistics business in Singapore. The role requires developing ideas to improve the cargo side of the business in conjunction with the agency side of the business, cultivating excellent services by delivering the operation on time & cost-effectively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with the local and group commercial team to support key relationships with customers allowing us to receive RFQ’s & bid requests on upcoming cargo movements or infrastructure projects within Singapore.
  • Upon handover from the commercial team, review & understand contract T&C’s and services sold to the customer. Lead to assign & delegate work to respective coordinator and operations staff for work execution.
  • Lead the pre-operations meetings with customers, vendors & authorities for key freight arrangements taking place.
  • Develops & maintains good relationships with key stakeholders such as existing customers, shipping & airfreight carriers, 3rd party forwarders & suppliers, customs officials, port authorities.
  • Develops a customer-service culture throughout the team by training & guiding logistic executives into developing their account management & customer service skills.
  • For existing customers, leads & handles all OOG air and sea charter freight quotation opportunities received based on the customers’ requirements.
  • Ensure projects are executed efficiently and delivery is made on time.
  • Provides management with weekly freight activities report.
  • Standardizes documentation & internal procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at all levels & proactively share information.
  • Oversees a compliant vendor list & review vendor rates and performance bi-yearly.
  • Initiates cost savings through operating efficiency enhancements & procurement negotiations.
  • Maintains compliance to ISO accreditation.
  • When required must organize, plan & travel across Singapore.
  • Responsible for identifying suitable candidates & leading Integrated Logistics’ freight team locally.

Job Requirements

  • Preferred to hold a degree in a business, supply chain/ logistics or engineering related subject.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have minimum 15 years’ experience working within the freight forwarding industry.
  • Strong leadership and experienced in leading a team of 10 or more.
  • Must have experience in vessel & air chartering for OOG cargo movements.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, MS Project.
  • Posses a supportive personality along with positive attidude.
