JOB DESCRIPTION

Resposbile for managing the company's certifications relating to sustainable fishing and traceability/chain of custody; supporting social accountability initiatives.


Manage company's Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) fisheries certifications - assessments and annual surveillance audits including monitoring regional/national fisheries management developments; information/data collation; participating in stakeholder consultation meetings; implementing client action plan activities; progress reporting on certification conditions and liaison with company's MSC Confirmity Assessment body(s) (CABs), flage state authorities, vessel owners, and other fisheries stakeholders.


Manage company's Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody (CcC) Programs including, but not limited to, MSC CoC policy development; MSC fishing trip coordination; MSC CoC documentation; MSC trip coordination; MSC CoC audit; oversight of MSC CoC ground staff; and liaison with CAB, vessels and MSC traders.


Provide technical support for other sustainability/social accountability programs, including Seafood Task Force (STF), Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI), Fair Trade, Friend of the Sea (FOS), as required.


Contribute to company's Annual Sustainability Reports and media releases on fisheries certification activities;


Carry out other tasks, duties and assignments as requested by Executive and Senior Management.


REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate qualifications in fisheries science, fisheries management, environmental management or an equivalent field relevant to the demands of the role. Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant field, preferable.


Min. 3 years related experience in one or more of these areas; fisheries sciences, fishing practices, sustainability, certification, corporate social responsibility, shipping, logistics, human resources, labour affairs.
