Responsible for managing Tri Marine’s certifications relating to sustainable fishing and traceability/chain of custody; supporting social accountability initiatives.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Manages Tri Marine’s Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) fisheries certifications - assessments and annual surveillance audits including monitoring regional/national fisheries management developments; information/data collation; participating in stakeholder consultation meetings; implementing client action plan activities; progress reporting on certification conditions; and, liaison with Tri Marine’s MSC Conformity Assessment body(s) (CABs), flag state authorities, vessel owners, and other fisheries stakeholders.
- Manages Tri Marine’s Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody (CoC) Programs including, but not limited to, MSC CoC policy development; MSC fishing trip coordination; MSC CoC documentation; MSC trip qualification; MSC weekly reporting; annual internal/external MSC CoC audits; oversight of MSC CoC ground staff; and, liaison with CAB, vessels and MSC traders.
- Manages Tri Marine’s participation under the Parties to the Nauru Agreement’s MSC fisheries certification and CoC programs, including but not limited to, PNA MSC fishing trip coordination; MSC CoC vessel training; MSC CoC documentation; MSC weekly reporting; MSC CoC annual external audits; and, liaison with PNA office and Tri Marine carrier and supercargo operations staff.
- Manages Tri Marine’s Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs) including implementation of FIP action plan activities; FIP stakeholder meeting coordination/participation; information/data collation; FIP progress reporting and media coverage; and management of FIP Coordinators.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of new Tri Marine and/or Bolton sustainability initiatives that augment compliance with fisheries certification standards (for example, FAD management, development of electronic-monitoring systems for vessels and by-catch mitigation).
- Provides technical support for other sustainability/social accountability programs, including Seafood Task Force (STF), Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI), Fair Trade, Friend of the Sea (FOS), Bolton Partnership Agreements (WWF, Oxfam), as required.
- Contributes to Tri Marine Annual Sustainability Reports and media releases on fisheries certification activities.

**Requirements**:

- Undergraduate qualifications in fisheries science, fisheries management, environmental management or an equivalent field relevant to the demands of the role. Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant field, preferable.
- Minimum three years’ experience in Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) fisheries certifications and/or Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs); demonstrable knowledge of MSC Fisheries Standard and MSC Chain of Custody Standard.
- Experience in social accountability, preferable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good inter-personal skills to form strong working relationships within Tri Marine Group and externally.
