About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for Specialist Maritime Commercial - Iron Ore to join the Maritime & Supply Chain Excellence team in Singapore, as part of BHP’s Commercial organisation. BHP’s Maritime & Supply Chain Excellence is responsible for overseeing the company’s global maritime transportation strategy across our global production and customer network and managing the chartering of ocean freight to fulfil BHP’s inbound and outbound shipping requirements. This includes focusing on supply chain optimisation and collaborating within the maritime industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with BHP-chartered vessels. The majority of Maritime & Supply Chain Excellence staff is located in Singapore. The candidate is a vessel scheduler in BHP’s Maritime Iron Ore team and is responsible for developing and managing the schedules of chartered vessels to ship loading, ensuring efficient and timely cargo loading for customers. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including Chartering and Operations, Sales, Port and Integrated Production Operation, to align shipping operations with production and sales goals. The candidate will also be providing support to the commercial delivery of sustainability and productivity objectives for the Maritime Iron Ore team, delivering optimised maritime solutions for BHP’s Outbound commodity supply chain. It is responsible for maximising commercial value, managing risks and ensuring efficient, sustainable and customer‑centric operations across procurement, maritime, marketing and market intelligence. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter and can deal with high‑pressure situations and ambiguity. Safety & Sustainability Demonstrates and instils an overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility. Adhere to all applicable maritime laws and regulations and the company’s marine vetting policy. Scheduling and Optimisation The ideal candidate will: Prepare and refine vessel schedules, optimise routes and seek improvements in scheduling processes. Has ability to identify and solve operational and scheduling bottlenecks related to vessel movements and cargoes and manage competing priorities. Have high levels of attention to detail. Ensuring accuracy in schedules, cargo plans, and other critical information is vital. Have a strong set of analytical and forecasting skills. Stakeholder Management Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders, internally and externally. Be seen as a reliable point of contact who understands operational realities and stakeholder needs. Develop relationships that encourage open, two‑way communications and proactive problem‑solving. About You Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Science, Engineering, Shipping, Supply Chain or Business. Experience and Technical Competencies At least one year’s working experience in commodity, shipping and/or mining industry. Industry experience in dry bulk shipping or large industrial supply chains, including port operations and shipping is essential. Experience in vessel scheduling or related roles is preferred. Experience in the maritime sector, particularly understanding in vessel operations, is highly desirable.
