Head of Compliance – Leading Cryptocurrency Exchange | Singapore

We are partnering with a leading cryptocurrency exchange and they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance to lead their regulatory, AML, and operational compliance efforts in one of the world’s most forward-thinking financial hubs.

As Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the full spectrum of compliance functions in Singapore. This includes Anti-Money Laundering (AML), regulatory compliance under the Payment Services Act (PSA), and operational controls. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our local compliance culture, ensuring alignment with Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) requirements, and building scalable frameworks from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead and manage all compliance activities in Singapore, including AML/CFT, regulatory reporting, and operational risk controls
  • Serve as the primary liaison with MAS and other regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate communication
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training programs tailored to PSA and crypto-specific requirements
  • Oversee licensing and ongoing regulatory obligations under the Payment Services Act
  • Monitor and assess regulatory developments, advising senior leadership on strategic implications
  • Build and lead a high-performing compliance team, fostering a proactive and collaborative culture
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Product, Operations, and Engineering to embed compliance into business processes
  • Drive continuous improvement in compliance systems, including transaction monitoring, KYC/EDD, and suspicious activity reporting
  • Champion a hands-on, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving and operational excellence

Requirements of the role:

  • Minimum 10 years of direct experience working with MAS, preferably in payments, fintech, or financial services
  • Deep expertise in the Payment Services Act and Singapore’s regulatory landscape
  • Proven track record in AML/CFT compliance, including policy development and enforcement
  • Experience in the payments industry is essential; exposure to cryptocurrency or blockchain is highly advantageous
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and scale teams and systems from scratch
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • “Can-do” attitude with a passion for innovation, agility, and hands-on execution
