The Role The key role of the Head of Football is to lead the strategic development of a world leading football programme that supports both the development and performance of all students at Tanglin. They will ensure that Tanglin has a succession of talented young football players that are continually developing and supported in their aspirations to achieve excellence. Students will participate and learn in the appropriate pathway so that each individual will experience the physical, social and psychological enrichment that football has to offer. Key policies, programmes and relationships will need to be built with management, teachers, coaches, parents, students and other stakeholders including relevant external organistions to ensure there is collaboration, communication and mutual support for raising the performance and profile of Tanglin football programme to a National and International level. The role reports to Director of Sport. Key Responsibilities 1. Football Development Work with the Director of Sport to develop and implement a strategic plan for growth and performance of the football pathway. Support coaches with regular ‘Football Pathway’ meetings to develop an integrative, inclusive and creative system to drive the development of football. Work with the Director of Sport to develop a competitive calendar which develops and stretches footballers at each stage of the pathway, including those aspiring to achieve excellence. Work with sports leaders and administrators to ensure there is collaboration and mutual support for raising the profile of Tanglin Sport both internally and externally. Work with the Head of Athletic Develop and other support to implement sport specific functional movement, and strength and conditioning. Develop, promote, and deliver specialist sessions and camps for interested players. 2. Leadership and Coaching Deliver high-quality progressive skill coaching sessions appropriate to the learning needs of individual students. Adopt the latest research on sport and youth development to innovate programme delivery with the latest practice and coaching methods. Support coaches through regular monitoring and feedback, ensuring high standards of coaching that is appropriately matched to the abilities and needs of individual students. Conduct session planning and post session reviews to improve the quality of learning. Deliver internal coach education opportunities to give coaches continued development and creativity for their sessions. Provide effective performance analysis feedback to players including individual player profiling, video analysis and observational feedback. Work with sport administrators to ensure that schedules, competitions, events and calendars are effectively communicated with all stakeholders. 3. Programme Management and Administration Monitor programmes to ensure all are delivered safely, efficiently run, and financially sustainable. Work with the Director of Sport to ensure that Football is scheduled, staffed and resourced to achieve a high standard of delivery. Ensure player registration and attendance records are maintained and updated regularly, CCA’s, programmes, competitions, events and term calendars are communicated with school administration. Coordinate the maintenance and upgrade of essential and necessary equipment. Manage the football budget and forecast costs and income for all programmes. Ensure all coach qualifications, safeguarding and certificates are up to date in accordance with the school administration. Also ensure that first aid supplies are readily available and that all coaches are aware of the accident and injury procedures for Tanglin Trust School. Operate according to the policies, procedures, and codes of practice relevant to the role. Adhere to safeguarding, equality, and health and safety practices of Tanglin Trust School. Develop and maintain effective communication with parents of players in development and competitive programs, reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or relevant Head of Department where necessary.
