About The Team

The Billing Team at Airwallex is at the forefront of transforming how businesses handle pricing, billing and invoicing. Our mission is to create a seamless, scalable, and transparent billing platform that supports Airwallex’s growth and empowers customers to manage their billing needs. The team builds a next-generation platform with flexible pricing strategies and intuitive invoicing, designed to be easy to adopt and integrate. The engineering team spans Shanghai and Singapore, collaborating with cross-functional teams globally and engaging with domains such as GTPN, PA, Scale, Issuing, and Spend to automate end-to-end pricing and billing processes.

What You’ll Do

This role is based in Singapore. You will lead the billing engineering function, delivering business-critical features and solutions as part of a high-impact, global team. You will enable a future where the billing platform serves both internal needs and as an easy-to-integrate product for customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, set goals and development targets, provide feedback and development plans as team members progress
• Work closely with Product Managers to analyze product requirements and define technical solutions and execution plans
• Hands-on design, implementation and delivery of software functions
• Analyze and validate technical designs for software functions
• Review code and ensure coding standards
• Collaborate with Product Managers to build a backlog that contributes to the roadmap
• Contribute to hiring, training and development of engineers within the team
• Ensure collaboration with other teams including local/global engineering, infrastructure, and product management

Who You Are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. Preferred qualifications are nice to have but not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience developing large-scale system control interfaces
• Fluent in English
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• Proficient in Java 8; experience with Java multi-threading, high concurrency, IO/NIO, network communication
• Familiar with design patterns; experience in large-scale distributed, high concurrency, high load, high availability systems
• Mastery of server technologies to optimize service response and data queries; address high concurrency and high availability
• Familiar with Spring/Spring Boot
• Familiar with HTTP, TCP/IP and REST
• Proficient with Gradle/Maven and build tools
• Familiar with Docker
• Familiar with JSON and XML

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in international clearing and settlement or foreign exchange transactions
• Additional languages or cloud experience (Cassandra/Redis/NoSQL/Hadoop; Kotlin/Scala/Python/Golang/R)
• Container orchestration with Docker Swarm/Kubernetes
• Frontend skills (JavaScript/Angular/React/CSS3)
• Cloud platforms (Aliyun/AWS)
