Overview

The Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, Antimicrobial Resistance Interdisciplinary Research Group is seeking a Senior Postdoctoral Associate / Postdoctoral Associate for a project: “The pathobiology of tRNA modifications in cardiac development and diseased cell states”. This is a collaborative project with the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine to map the tRNA epitranscriptome in cardiac cell development and disease states. The successful candidate will lead the project involving RNA epitranscriptomics, nucleic acid and protein sample preparation, and molecular/biochemistry work from diverse cardiac cell and clinical models, applying cardio-biology and multi-omics techniques to contribute to impactful scientific research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize protocols for mass spectrometry (epitranscriptomics and proteomics), next‑gen sequencing (absolute quantification), RNA modification pathway analysis, and various biological processes (e.g., hiPSC differentiation).
  • Design experiments to differentiate hiPSCs into cardiac and other cell lineages, following established protocols or adapting them to answer relevant biological questions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-cultural teammates, the NUS academic/clinical communities, and the wider scientific community.
  • Communicate scientific discoveries through publications, presentations at local and international conferences, and support in technology disclosure and intellectual property filing as required.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (e.g., stem cell biology, biotechnology, cell biological engineering or related discipline) with a strong publication record.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience in multi-omics platforms, next‑gen sequencing, and related data analysis.
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques, hiPSC culture, differentiation, and characterization is desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
