The role is to lead the Global Subsidiaries (GS) team for the SG and ASEAN. You will actively participate in the Global Subsidiaries Management Team to help determine the GS strategy which aims to maximise shareholder value, identifies, and creates areas of competitive advantage and aligns to the overall strategic direction of the wider business. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the GS segment strategy within Coverage for the SG & ASEAN

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for delivery of agreed business performance targets (Revenue, RoRWA, RWA, costs, etc.) for GS ASEAN
  • Responsible for developing and managing the implementation of GS client segment strategy, including a global client value proposition, as a framework within which the client segment and product groups operate and ensuring the CIB marketing strategy supports this
  • Jointly with B&C heads from Malaysia (self), Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Brunei - responsible for developing network business strategy, investment plan, revenue budgets and performance management for corporates domiciled in these countries
Business
  • Jointly with Cluster Head of B&C, CIB & the respective CIB CC heads: and product partners, responsible for managing the delivery of agreed business performance across the GS business in the region and Compliance, responsible for managing financial crime, specifically for client due diligence for GS clients
  • responsible for managing all corporate inbound client relationships in the region
  • responsible for client services (excluding operations) - for GS clients. Specifically, responsible for building long-term client relationships and treating clients fairly. This includes identifying and managing possible client conflicts in an open and clear way
  • responsible for client complaints handling for GS ASEAN clients in conformance with the Group
  • Relationships with Clients Policy and for ensuring adequoate oversight of client complaints within CIB through the relevant governing body (as necessary) under the Group's governance framework
  • In relations to client complaints procedures : management information, training, monitoring and assurance
Processes
  • Responsible for managing the integrity of GS ASEAN client data
  • Jointly with Cluster B&C, CIB & the respective Country CIB Banking & Coverage Heads, responsible for implementation of all the GS processes allocated by the Group's process universe
  • Accountable to risk control owners and/or Group policy owners for implementation of policies and control standards set by them, ensuring compliance and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite. This includes the credit risk exposures arising from client lending activity as described below
  • Responsible for management of processes (in line with the Group's process universe as set out in the Group Operational Risk Framework) and associated risks, including activities within the processes which are carried out by other businesses or functions or which are hubbed or outsourced
People and Talent
  • Responsible for directly managing and recruiting GS staff in ASEAN
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners
  • Working jointly with Cluster B &C and the respective Country CIB Banking & Coverage heads, ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
  • Working jointly with Cluster B &C and & Country CIB Banking & Coverage heads, employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
  • Working jointly with Cluster B &C and & Country CIB Banking & Coverage heads, responsible for reviewing team structure/capacity plans
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
  • Working jointly with Cluster B &C and Country CIB Banking & Coverage heads, responsible for the deployment of the risk decision framework within agreed risk tolerance and appetite, ensuring compliance with regulations, escalating material risk in accordance with the Group's risk management framework, and building a culture of good conduct
Governance
  • Working jointly with Cluster B &C and & Country CIB Banking & Coverage heads, responsible for identifying and defining technological and operational needs for GS and liasing with the Cluster B &C to ensure appropriate investment capacity is made available to ensure the development and delivery of infrastructure that ensures the business and compliance requirements are met
Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the GS Asean business to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Qualifications
  • University degree in a business-related field
  • 15+ years' work experience in a relevant role within a global Corporate Bank
