Senior Vice President, Regulatory Compliance (Insurance) - HSBC Life We are seeking a high‑calibre professional to join our team in regulatory compliance for the insurance business. The role focuses on providing advisory support, risk stewardship, and governance related to regulatory compliance matters in the insurance sector within HSBC. Responsibilities Provide compliance advisory to the insurance business through proactive and practical advice, focusing on regulatory compliance, local regulatory requirements, and bank policies and framework. Exercise risk stewardship related to Compliance risk taxonomies and incident management, in governance forums and through effective issue management; foster a strong compliance culture with business risk and control owners. Promptly communicate new regulations or changes impacting the insurance business; monitor key local regulatory changes and oversee the development of appropriate policies and frameworks to manage changes. Participate with risk and control owners in managing new product and service development to ensure potential compliance issues are addressed early. Identify regulatory compliance issues timely and resolve them promptly; report and escalate material issues to relevant stakeholders and management as needed. Maintain strong relations with regulators and industry bodies; oversee regulatory inspections and respond to regulatory compliance queries; prepare governance reports and challenge business inputs as required. Develop strong communication and working relationships with other compliance stakeholders in country and Group to ensure implementation of regulations, policies, and standards; observe all control standards and the Group Compliance Policy; implement recommendations from auditors and regulators. Provide advisory support on MAS corporate governance regulations related to appointments, accountability, and conduct guidelines. Qualifications Degree in business, accounting or law with strong relevant experience in the insurance industry preferred, or a seasoned compliance professional in financial services; audit background and regulatory compliance understanding can also be considered. Compelling communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, and articulate risk management and policy in business language. Ability to develop practical solutions to complex issues and work independently while coordinating with others as needed. Experience dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators. Experience interpreting complex information/data and providing succinct summaries for management; experience in a matrixed, international environment is preferred. Demonstrated excellence at work, ability to motivate teams, and collaboration with Risk and Business teams within Singapore or broader regions.
