The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Project Officer.
Key Responsibilities- Design and fabricate wirelessly controlled sensor-backpack mounting on living insects to electronically stimulate their neurons and muscles for navigation and report environmental conditions.
- Develop firmware, algorithms, data structures, and user interfaces for sensor-backpack remote control.
- Integrate customized algorithms into insect-computer hybrid robot operations and test sensor-backpack functionality on living insects.
- Produce technical write-ups and presentations.
- Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical and Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience in PCB design and fabrication.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Experience in real-time operating system development.
- Knowledge of wireless communication (BLE, Sub-GHz, UWB, etc.) is advantageous.
- Experience in C#, Java, JavaScript, Python is advantageous.
- Knowledge of insect anatomy and physiology is advantageous.
- Team player with a problem-solving mindset.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
