Deputy Director, Strategic Communications & Digital and Social Media

What you will be working on
  • Strategic communications: developing and refining the key organisational messages and putting them out effectively in public domains to gain mindshare of relevant stakeholders. Plan, theme messages, and build a message house to ensure coherence across IMDA’s messaging for multiple audience groups.
  • Digital & Social Media management: lead IMDA's digital and social media teams, overseeing cohesive messaging across corporate and digital touchpoints to reach target audiences.
  • Data-driven insights for public communications work.
  • Media relations: build and maintain relations with local and international media and publications.
  • Crisis communication: review processes and structures, and lead public communications during incidents.

  • Implementation and media relations: oversee media management for IMDA-wide engagements, develop corporate collateral for events, and strengthen media relations.
  • Team development: lead and develop team members, establish effective processes and tools.
What you will be working on – Digital & Social
  • Lead the Digital & Social media teams managing IMDA’s owned channels (website & social) to communicate with key target groups.
  • Integrate messaging across Corporate and Digital & Social channels for cohesive touchpoints.
  • Develop and manage content calendars and content for IMDA and senior management.
  • Identify gaps in processes and tech-stack to meet the needs of IMDA across multiple channels.
  • Draw insights from data to inform dashboards and drive decision-making across channels.
  • Engage and counsel Group Heads & Division HODs on effective communications across owned channels.
  • Data management and use: collect and track data to gauge effectiveness of public communications and build tools to empower IMDA lines to leverage insights.
What we are looking for
  • A strategic and dynamic leader with at least 12-15 years of relevant experience in communication, media and journalism.
  • Government communications experience is required, with at least 8-10 years in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent media relations, written and spoken communication skills, and the ability to nuance sensitive messaging and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to have an integrated view across all Lines/business units within IMDA to build an overarching strategic messaging platform.
  • Adept at collaborating with multiple stakeholders internally and externally, and able to prioritise work to ensure quality output.
  • Experienced people manager with an interest in coaching and developing staff.
  • Strong team player who can work collaboratively within and across teams.
  • Strong understanding and interest in technology; prior experience in ICT sectors is a plus.
