About the Solutions & Services

Solutions & Services is part of Fidelity’s Client Propositions function which exists to connect client needs to Fidelity’s investment capabilities in the form of products, solutions and services. The team operates globally aiming to deliver commercial client outcomes. The client base is divided broadly between retail/wholesale and institutional. Clients are global and cross channel in Europe, including the UK, Asia, Japan and the Middle East. 

The main objective of the Solutions & Services team is to support the development and growth of Fidelity’s business – by listening to clients and bringing together the different areas of Fidelity’s capabilities to design and build solutions which meet specific client needs. To achieve this, the team is responsible for representing the investment capabilities of Fidelity to prospective and existing clients, aiming to be the partner of choice, developing Solutions and Services to address our clients' needs, enhance existing relationships and develop new ones. We work globally with Distribution and across IM to deliver optimal client outcomes which are commercially attractive. We also aim to broaden engagement with clients – showcasing FIL expertise enabling earlier engagement in the client decision making process as we move from working with clients in a reactive manner to a proactive interactions with clients and consultants.

The team are also responsible for supporting and developing the engagement model with investment teams, the Portfolio Research and Engineering team, the SAA/Macro team, operational teams and distribution to ensure that new solutions are fit for purpose, in line with client requirements as well as co-ordinating with investment teams to develop new products and innovation. This requires strong engagement with distribution, investment management and senior management to evaluate new business opportunities, assess and ensure that the solutions design and strategies delivered to clients are consistent with the investment management approach across the business as well as building relationships with key strategic clients.

Success in this field requires a strong knowledge of investment, a deep and continuously developing knowledge of portfolio strategies, a capacity to communicate these in different formats and an ability to support sales teams through direct client relationships where appropriate. The Solutions & services team is a globally-integrated team with representatives in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Purpose of your role

The individual will join Fidelity’s Solutions & services team, supporting client-facing activity for Fidelity’s global distribution business. As well as working closely with the global Investment Directors, the Solutions Associate will liaise with the Portfolio Managers and the global sales force.  Works globally to partner both with Fidelity investment teams and distribution teams around the world, to identify client needs and structure suitable solutions to meet these needs. Engaging in conversations with clients to holistically understand their long-term investment needs and how these map to Fidelity’s wider investment capabilities and strategies. Responsibilities include the production of a wide range of written material to support client engagement. This includes pitch books and product presentations, reporting materials, marketing and training collateral, editorial content and thought leadership, RFP/RFI submissions. Collaboration with the Solutions Directors and Head of Client Solutions to design, create and enhance collateral to articulate our Solutions approach including case studies and playbooks to be used with clients and internally with sales teams.

The individual’s specific responsibilities will include:

Working with the Solutions Directors on specific client opportunities, putting together relevant materials as well as supporting on modelling. Supporting on the research agenda working with Solutions Directors to deliver research as well as turn this into thought leadership and supporting the profile raising internal and externally of the Solutions & Services team Working with Fidelity’s internal distribution teams to support their knowledge and promotion of Solutions & Services Develop strong links with distribution to identify commercial opportunities Raise the profile of FIL’s investment solutions both internally and externally Develop a deep understanding of Fidelity’s capabilities and investment process, together with the ability to communicate this both to colleagues and clients.  Build a strong knowledge of the market structure, a deep knowledge of portfolio strategies, a capacity to communicate these in different formats and an ability to support sales through direct client relationships when necessary.  Develop an in-depth understanding of competitors and the industry; monitor for new trends and opportunities and identify growth opportunities in existing markets/channels as well as develop understanding of regulatory change and opportunities/challenges this may present for Fidelity Follow a single global process, operating model, governance and oversight process

Experience and qualifications required

A client and service focused mindset Experience of the asset management industry, including an understanding of the investment, cost and regulatory factors affecting the investment needs of clients Strong communication skills and an ability to empathise - applies to others internally at Fidelity and our clients.  A passion for investing and knowledge of current and historic market and asset class trends, levels and valuations A grounding in portfolio theory and investment concepts Strong interpersonal skills, preferably with experience of working in a large team, and engagement with stakeholders A strong commercial sense and desire to grow and expand Fidelity’s business Strong presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and to influence audiences in both small and large-scale forums Highly collaborative approach and a team player Excellent capability with Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as strong data and analytical skills Proactive approach and a ‘can-do’ attitude to take ownership and resolve issues. CFA or equivalent qualifications are preferred
