We have an interesting opportunity for a Senior Claims Executive to join our Singapore Claims Team to undertake claims handling.  You will be responsible for handling many different P&I claims, including more complex claims from notification to completion. 

What will you be doing?

In this role you’ll be responsible for handling many different P&I claims, including those that are more difficult and complex, from notification to completion.

Your main duties will include:

  • Claims handling, including personal injury matters, cargo claims, property damage claims, collisions, pollution claims.
  • Verifying that the risk/claim is covered under the Member’s entry with the Club.
  • Settling third party P&I claims at the most economic figure possible, in accordance with the Rules and the Member’s Terms of Entry.
  • Handling Defence disputes.
  • Appointing, lawyers, surveyors, consultants and correspondents and to receive and evaluate critically advice received, and act thereon.
  • Notifying Reinsurers and make recoveries from both the pool and the excess reinsurers, or other contractual parties where appropriate.
  • Reporting internally.
  • Preparing agendas and reports.

We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy what they do and have a determined ‘can do’ attitude. A confident communicator, you should also be able to challenge and influence at all levels and liaise and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.

Skills and Experience

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A degree (preferably in Law).
  • Ideally you will be a legally qualified lawyer or barrister.
  • Previous shipping law experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with individual members.
  • Previous Club (P&I) experience or previous experience of working on claims in the maritime industry.
  • Willingness to travel
