The Job
About Our Venture Builder Programme
- Join as a co-founder of our venture based on world-class technologies (TRL 4+) from our Research Partners, with SDTA’s pre-validation of commercial applications and market opportunities.
- Founders can expect to receive technology support from lead researchers and access to business units in leading multinationals who have committed to support proof-of-concept and pilot projects with SDTA. This includes prototyping, productisation, distribution, and more.
- You and your co-founders will earn 80% ownership of the venture.
- Access to investment, market access, coaching and mentorship through the Alliance’s network of investors, advisors, mentors and alumni.
- Access to other resources like grants and co-working spaces to support your venture development.

About the Venture
Single-Particle Mechanical Selection
The Single-Particle Mechanical Selection (SPMS) technology is an innovative, decentralized immunoassay platform designed to address the limitations of traditional diagnostic methods. Unlike conventional techniques, SPMS uses mechanical force to enhance specificity without compromising sensitivity, offering rapid, accurate detection within 20-30 minutes and at costs comparable to lateral flow tests.
This technology outperforms traditional methods such as ELISA and CLIA in speed, sample volume required, and non-invasiveness, providing a critical solution for rapid diagnostics. Currently at TRL 4, with a projected timeline of 12 months to reach TRL 6, the technology has already secured substantial funding from sources like J&J Investments and the National Research Foundation of Singapore. It holds two international patents and has a prototype that requires further integration.
The SPMS technology targets a rapidly growing in vitro diagnostic (IVD) market, valued at USD 75 billion in 2023 at a CAGR of 6.0% from 2024 to 2032, offering a significant advantage over competitors with its superior sensitivity, speed, and cost-efficiency.
Potential Use Cases Include:
- Emergency care: Enabling rapid testing for differential diagnosis to identify critical conditions such as sepsis, respiratory infections, and other time-sensitive ailments.
- Infectious disease outbreak management: Providing fast screening to support containment and monitoring during outbreaks, an essential tool for public health responses.
- Chronic condition management: Facilitating regular monitoring of markers associated with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic illnesses, making healthcare management more accessible and cost-effective for patients.

The Profile
CEO & Co-founder Requirements
You are an excellent big-picture thinker who is deliberate and does not get impatient dealing with details, as you believe the devil is in the details. You are also practical and hands-on as you drive the team towards growth, leveraging your extensive network and resources to bring new solutions to market.
Ideally, you would be a domain expert in healthcare with at least 10 years of work experience and your last role in a management capacity. Bonus points if you have had both corporate and startup experiences.
You are expected to…
- Excel at strategic thinking in order to identify opportunities and make business decisions that ensure long-term success and growth.
- Be acquainted with sound corporate governance structures.
- Conduct market research and analyse trends and data to make well-informed business decisions.
- Take an active role in product development, making both high-level and minute decisions before you go to market.
- Successfully promote your products before they go to market, build anticipation and create demand.
- Excel at recruiting, hiring and retaining talented and dedicated staff members who can help bring the founding team’s vision to life.
- Have a solid grasp of financial planning and forecasting, and should be able to set milestones and budgets to ensure solvency and long-term growth.
- Skills: Sales, Business Development, Fundraising, Strategy, Partnerships and Leadership
- Leadership experience in relevant domains: healthcare, health-tech, diagnostics, medical devices, or biotech.
- Entrepreneurial experience with early-stage health-tech ventures.
- Familiarity with navigating regulatory and grant funding pathways.
- Track record in market validation, B2B customer acquisition, and scaling health-tech or diagnostics solutions.
- Experience in developing a go-to-market strategy and partnerships with healthcare stakeholders.
- Experience in fundraising and financial management
- Need to be willing to relocate to Singapore for the duration of the programme (at least 6 months)
