DPS One Client Tools & Configuration Singapore Team is part of a bigger Agile Release Train (CT&C ART) spanning multiple Scrum Teams across US, UK, Poland and Singapore. Currently there are two full Scrum Teams in Singapore working on a wide variety of projects built using .NET, Java, SQL, React.JS tech stack to deliver core business value to the CT&C ART.

We are looking for a talented and mature Sr. Manager to join our team in Singapore

As a Sr. Manager in the engineering team (Developers & Functional Testers), you will be reporting to the Engineering Sr Director who is the CT&C ART Technical Business Owner. Your focus will be to oversee the day-to-day activities of a team roughly of size 6 to start with, who will report directly to you. The team would comprise of engineers ranging from fresh college graduates to senior experienced professionals with close to 4-6 or even more years of relevant experience.

The engineers design, build and enhance solutions meant for our customers in an agile, fast-paced environment. You will be working with colleagues across the company, who will help support and challenge you every day. Designing solutions, writing code, unit testing code, developing test cases, automating test cases and frequent check-ins for continuous integration is part of the DNA of this engineering team. You will see your team’s code going to production in just a few weeks and used by strategic accounts worldwide. Our team, as well as our group works under the principles of a common engineering model with both development and test automation expertise. You are expected to have hands-on experience and sufficient knowledge to guide the engineers and unblock them as needed on an on-going basis. This role will also need you to manage Scrum ceremonies for the teams under CT&C ART based out of Singapore, carefully oversee co-ordination with other teams and stakeholders within the Train and cross-functional teams across other DPS One Trains to ensure proper planning, execution, and delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

Actively oversee developer activities for feature development and bug fixing and ensure delivery of on-time, high-quality, secure code. Review high and low level design of new systems as well as enhancements / defect fixing that the team undertakes and provide input / proper guidance as needed. Ability to guide engineers to design systems in addition to guidance available from architecture team in terms of technical direction of solution to be implemented. Review test strategy and test cases meant for functionally testing features end-to-end, to ensure optimum quality of solutions. Be able to review and recommend as needed any open-source / commercial tools that the team is considering for an engineering solution. Stay on top of test automation being carried out for functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, bug tracking etc. and provide input as needed to improve quality metrics. Collaborate with Project Managers to plan timely and smooth releases of features into Sandbox and Production environments. Remove obstacles that impede work processes. Help plan team backlog work and oversee adherence to Agile / Scrum process every sprint. Unblock them on different aspects as needed to help make progress. Be prepared to play an active Scrum Master role for the Scrum Teams and be responsible for adherence to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) best practices followed across DPS One. Specifically, take on the responsibility to help plan and co-ordinate Planning Interval (PI) activities every quarter, system demo, oversee sprint activities, manage any scope change with product and architecture stakeholders, upkeep of JIRA Align and JIRA hygiene, and so on. Working closely with peer people leaders within the ART to support the teams’ overall charter in a holistic way and be open to matrix management model across all team members (not just direct reports) if needed to support any project. Becoming the bridge / core contact point for Product, Architect, PMO, Dev & QA along with all other potential stakeholders in the pipeline for all past, on-going, and upcoming projects / features is a major responsibility for this role. Building relationships across different Visa teams and actively working with all stakeholders to create win-win scenarios for all concerned to collectively make progress towards Visa’s common business goal will be another major responsibility for this role. Having a keen eye to find opportunities in Visa where the team’s knowledge and skills can be best leveraged to drive new business opportunities will be a highly desired trait. Lead and provide technical mentoring to a team of talented engineers and train them on Developer and Test Automation best practices. Be prepared to support engineers in troubleshooting urgent Sandbox and Production issues and drive stakeholder communication. Display active interest in learning about newer technologies and business use cases to build the next generation of payment solutions. Help our clients achieve their business goals by understanding their requirements and delivering the best solution. Lead meetings and discussions with Product and Architecture teams. Mentor and motivate people to drive engagement within the team. Conduct regular 1:1 meeting, quarterly OKR settings, and performance reviews for team members. Drive behaviors that align with Visa Leadership Principles. Hire, develop and retain employees with diverse backgrounds. Spend time training and grooming high potential employees (succession planning). Develop close working relationships with members of different teams within the organization. Become knowledgeable in Visa's core technology, infrastructure, and standards. Actively participate in Visa Singapore technology, innovation and other events and help lead and organize some of these activities. Have a passion for emerging GenAI technologies, with an ability to understand and align with Visa’s strategy in this area and guiding and shaping team’s adoption plan accordingly.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
• Typically, candidates are expected to have 10+ years of experience working in a technology company on Java / .NET / React.JS and related technologies. Experience in delivering enterprise-class, mission-critical, commercial, and scalable products is strongly preferred.
Previous people management experience is a must-have.
We want the Sr. Manager to do much more than people management on a day-to-day basis. You would be expected to bring in expertise that include:

Technical
• Solid experience as an individual contributor (Developer or QA) during your career in developing / testing n-tier web application is required.
• Strong technical background using technologies like JAVA, J2EE and/or .NET, C# is required, along with REST API development experience. Exposure to UI Frameworks like React.JS is strongly desired. Good understanding of commercial database solutions like Oracle, MongoDB is needed
• In case of expertise in Java tech stack, exposure to Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA / Hibernate, Tomcat is a strong plus.
• Experience in Linux, Kafka, Hadoop, etc. and other Open-Source backend / frontend technologies, object-oriented patterns and design best practices is a strong plus.
• Strong foundation in requirements scoping, data structures, algorithms, instrumenting and performance benchmarking, problem solving, and complexity analysis is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development is required.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies such as functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, penetration testing & performance testing is required.
• Familiarity with common application security vulnerabilities and how to overcome them (OWASP) is a plus.
• Knowledge in micro services and hands-on experience in Kubernetes, Docker and OpenShift would be a strong plus.
• Knowledge on Performance analysis tools like Riverbed and Monitoring tools like Splunk and Opera would be a strong plus.

• Proven track record of leadership skills in people management role in an engineering track in established organizations.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal skills along with a team player focus.
• Heightened sense of empathy, with mentoring and motivation skills with adjustments as per different individuals’ personality traits to be effective.
• Strong analytical skills with technical focus and attention to detail.
• Strong sense of responsibility and being able to lead the team by example.
• Good communicator (both oral and written).

Project Management / Scrum Master
• Hands-on experience leading Agile / Scrum teams is required.
• Detail oriented, with a strong work ethic to follow-through and complete action items with stakeholders is a must-have attribute.
• Familiarity and active work experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a strong plus.
• Any relevant certification in this space is a strong plus.
• Ability to match frequency with a wide range of audience spanning different levels of seniority across Engineering, Product, Architecture, PMO and other groups in Visa to influence and drive engaging conversations and unblocking engineers as needed to plan, execute, and deliver business value on a continuous basis will be a key skill for success in this role.
