The Strategic Technical Lead (STL) is a senior role within the global Strategic Partnership Team (SPT) who serves Microsoft’s largest and most strategist customers across the globe. We maximize digital transformation opportunities using Microsoft Azure platform.

Qualifications
At SPT, we focus on the Azure platform to create value for our customers, so this role is focused on “Apps & Infra” on Azure (second focus will be data & AI) and is based out of Singapore/ Hong Kong (no relocation). Given the role will focus primarily on GCR, speaking mandarin is preferred.
Responsibilities
The Strategic Technical Lead (STL) leads the technical strategy and collaborates closely with the Strategic Pursuit Lead (SPL), the local teams and where required, with global engineering and product teams. The STL role requires a strong technical leader, a very broad technical experience, the ability to orchestrate global v-teams and a mindset to “lead without authority”.
Furthermore, STLs require a strong and deep commercial understanding, including commercial modelling and on how the Microsoft platform creates value for our customers business.
The role is a very senior role that comes with very high visibility externally (customer c-level) and internally (MS SLT involvement). At SPT, many of our deals are unique or represent a "first" for Microsoft; therefore, the STL role also encompasses coaching and mentoring other teams, as well as creating collateral to scale Microsoft-wide based on our learnings.

Technical Leadership:
Lead the overall technical strategy for opportunities across local, regional and some cases global v-teams. Collaborate with and coach teams towards the desired technical outcomes of the strategic partnership. Acts as a representative for the technology domain to all C-suite customer leaders while engaging with and leveraging Microsoft senior leadership as appropriate. Promotes reference architectures and provides validation input to establish programmatic frameworks for use by the business.Sales/ commercial acumen:
Ability to understand customer visions and business requirements into technical strategy. Map the technical strategy to the Microsoft Azure platform meeting customer and Microsoft needs. Create multi-year commercial cloud consumption projections aligned with customer strategy using cloud economics. Jointly qualifies and prioritizes opportunities with Strategic Partnership Lead (sales) and develop appropriate technical strategy aligned with sales strategy. Engages internal teams to ensure capability to execute strategy. Applies advanced sales methodologies (e.g., challenger sales) and coaches team to lead and inspire global customers in digital transformation.Digital Transformation:
Strong track record to drive large scale end-2-end digital transformation for at least two different industries. Understand business priorities, technical drivers, and cultural requirements in large international organizations. Uses broad, in-depth industry, technical, and professional experience to build credibility with customers. Works with Microsoft and customer stakeholders to build architectures patterns to support Horizon 2 and 3 workloads and incorporates these into the strategic partnership engagement.Broad Technical expertise:
Broad technical expertise across (multi-)cloud technologies. Technical Thought Leader with strong sales experience, ability to win customer c-level or internal audience (e.g. DWR) with the clear mutual benefits for the customer and for MSFT coming from the Strategic partnership. Ensures consistency and quality through capturing, sharing of standards and best practices in customer engagements at the regional and global level to drive consistency.Orchestrating virtual teams:
Orchestrate different teams and resources required for an opportunity towards the desired outcome. Ability to generate trust, build alliances, and orchestrate interdisciplinary teams to the benefit of customers. Coaches and enables account teams to identify and proactively engage with key customer technical decision makers and influencers to unblock technical and business obstacles. Leverage the Microsoft organization (e.g., engineering, product groups, Office of the CTO [OCTO], Microsoft Technology Centre [MTC], etc) to resolve complex, technical blockers. Proactively plan and align local, regional, and global team resources with Strategic Partnership Opportunity.
