**Where do you come into the picture?**

Nium is looking for a leader to support and grow its rapidly expanding Product and Regulatory Legal team. Reporting to Nium’s General Counsel, you will lead a high-performance global team that is responsible for shaping Nium’s legal and regulatory strategy for geographic expansion, new product development and a range of other legal and regulatory issues at the intersection of financial technology and regulatory frameworks that are critical to Nium’s long term success.

**What will a day Nium look like?**

As Head of Product and Regulatory Legal, you will:

- Lead a global team of talented product and regulatory counsel, providing strategic and tactical support for the team, supporting team members in executing their roles and growing their careers at Nium.
- Develop Nium’s legal and regulatory strategy for expanding its global footprint and shipping new products that span global payments, payment acceptance, card issuance, crypto and digital assets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering and business teams who are building market leading financial technology products on a range of issues including financial services regulations, payments, consumer protection, data privacy and intellectual property.
- Support Nium’s compliance, policy and business teams to engage with our regulators globally, including obtaining new licenses.
- Build effective and scalable legal processes and infrastructure to support Nium’s continued rapid growth.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Nium’s leadership team.

**As Head of Product and Regulatory Legal, you will**:

- Establish the vision for public policy at Nium, collaborating with a cross-functional group of senior leadership to identify policy priorities and objectives.
- Foster relationships with key government agencies and regulators.
- Advance policy issues that are important to Nium and its customers through direct advocacy and via coordination with trade associations and coalitions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including product, business, marketing, legal and compliance to accelerate Nium’s footprint expansion and new product ships, and to ensure that product design and business expansion incorporates solid policy fundamentals.
- Engage and manage trade associations, coalitions, and consultants to support the execution of Nium’s policy platform.
- Build effective and scalable policy processes and infrastructure to support Nium’s continued rapid growth.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Nium’s leadership team.

**Requirements**:

- 8+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in an in-house legal team, top law firm and/or government agency, ideally working with financial technology companies on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development
- Curiosity and a desire to learn and stretch into areas outside of your existing expertise.
- A passion for technology, strong business acumen and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and push projects forward with urgency and rigor.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to engage effectively with, and influence, a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Results oriented - ability to find solutions to difficult problems quickly and effectively.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, challenging and changing environment with hands-on involvement and excellent judgement.
- Proven track record building and leading high-performance legal teams.
