Star Alliance Singapore is a subsidiary management organisation that coordinates Star Alliance activities and manages joint projects on behalf of the world’s largest airline alliance. The holding company is based in Frankfurt, Germany. Our primary customers are our numerous member airlines from around the globe, but we interact with consumers through a number of products and forums.
This position is expected to provide strong leadership to the Alliance Development and Communications business unit which is responsible for the ongoing liaison with Star Alliance member airlines and manages the performance quality of the Alliance through measurement of member compliance with the Star Alliance core values and standards, as well as the integration process of new Star Alliance member airlines and partners. The team is further responsible for communications and marketing that includes the management of the global brand of Star Alliance.
**Job Summary**
**Marketing and Branding**:
- Support the marketing of Star Alliance products and services, with a robust marketing strategy that includes digital and regional marketing
- Drive social media presence and engagement
- Promote and position the Star Alliance brand globally
- Work with and optimise creative and brand agencies
**Corporate Communications**:
- Lead external communications, primarily with the media as well as key partners, industry bodies and government agencies to promote Star Alliance products and services, amplify member airline messages and make representations on behalf of the members as well as to promote and protect the brand
- Liaise and coordinate Star Alliance-related communications with the corporate communications committee, as well as chair the committee
- Manage public relations agencies retained by Star Alliance
- Lead internal communications with employees of member airlines and Star Alliance’s employees through a strategy of positive engagement
- Chair the emergency response committee and manage crisis communications in consultation with the committee
**Membership and Network**:
- Lead the membership portfolio including membership development and integration of new members including Connecting Partners and Intermodal Partners
- Manage regular liaison with member airlines/partners and lead the membership committee
- Oversee the performance quality and compliance of members with Star Alliance standards through regular audits as well as managing changes to the standards
**E-Commerce and Sales Products**:
- Oversee and drive the performance of the Round-the-World product, and other fare related products as well as the joint corporate contract product
**Your Profile**:
- Minimum of 15 years working experience, in a leadership position in marketing. communications or business development, with airline and/or alliance experience an added advantage
- Graduate in business administration preferably a postgraduate degree
You must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge of and extensive experience in the following areas;
- Managing external media relations and press conferences
- Marketing and communications strategy development and execution
- Adopting and optimising digital communication channels
- Managing external agencies to understand the business of the company and its deliverables
- Cross-cultural management of member relations and standards
- Product innovation and promotion
- As a key member of the management and leadership team, you will need to be or have:
- A strong visionary change leader with the personality and impactful communication skills to gain the credibility with key decision makers with c-level exposure an advantage
- A high level of entrepreneurial spirit, mental agility, business and relationship intelligence
- Excellent interpersonal skills with significant experience in stakeholder management and consensus building as well as ability to interact appropriately with all levels of the organisation
- A successful track record of driving innovation with good business acumen and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work with speed, independently and in teams, and within a multicultural environment
- A demonstrated ability to lead a team of highly qualified staff
- A high service philosophy and professional working attitude with attention to detail and excellent follow-through
- Excellent in oral and written communications and comfortable in making presentations
- Fluent in written and spoken English
