**Role Overview**:
Ready to be the legal wizard for the world of IoT? We're expanding our legal team and are on the hunt for a brilliant **Legal Counsel** to dive into our exciting in-house environment. This isn't your average stuffy legal gig; it's a chance to be at the heart of our operations, providing essential legal support and advice to everyone from our senior business leaders to our sales and administration teams across the **APAC region**. You'll be a key player in our small but mighty legal team, working closely with the Group Head of Legal and our current trainee solicitor, and collaborating directly with the CEO, CFO, and in-country MDs.

**Your Daily Quest (Key Responsibilities)**:

- **Provide commercial legal advice**, which means you'll be negotiating contracts and NDAs, responding to internal legal queries, and getting involved in customer negotiations. You'll also tackle insolvency issues, insurance matters, and billing queries.
- **Manage disputes from start to finish**, including debt claims with our credit control and sales admin teams, small claims litigation, and engaging with external debt collection agencies and legal advisers. You might even find yourself attending court proceedings where necessary, and you'll oversee our independent arbitration facility.
- **Assist with Corporate/M&A activities**, specifically helping with the post-acquisition onboarding for M&A deals and coordinating with external resources to get all the necessary Bibles, DD, and other info for the legal team.
- **Keep us compliant** You'll be staying on top of relevant Telecoms, IoT (including local regulatory consultations like ACMA, IMDA, MCMC, TRAI, etc.), and other regulatory requirements specific to the APAC region, and sharing this crucial compliance info with our customers.
- **Help maintain our intellectual property and copyright**, which means you'll be assisting with our trademark portfolio and handling other IP issues.
- **Support the Group Data Protection Officer with Data Protection tasks**, including data impact assessments, incident reports, customer queries, and ensuring we're always compliant with Data Protection Laws relevant to APAC jurisdictions (e.g., PDPA, APPs).

**The Secret Sauce (Key Experience & Skills)**:
What do you think this person needs to absolutely smash this role? These are the qualifications, skills, and traits we're after:

- **Specific experience**: Eligibility to practice law in an APAC jurisdiction (e.g., Singapore, Australia, India); alternatively, qualification in another common law jurisdiction with substantial experience in **APAC commercial law**.
- **Sector knowledge**: Ideally, you'll have a background in commercial contract law and experience working with commercial disputes and claims, along with knowledge of associated legal processes.
- **Communication wizardry**: Excellent written and verbal communication skills - **Fluent in English and ideally one or more major APAC languages** (e.g., Mandarin, Japanese, Bahasa, Hindi)
- **Master of multitasking**: You'll be able to manage multiple tasks and caseloads like a pro.
- **Attention to detail**: Your keen eye for detail will help you carefully analyze files and data.
- **Continuous learner**: Strong legal research skills and a genuine desire to develop your understanding of the law, particularly within the diverse APAC legal landscape.
