Director, Design Lead, Wholesale Transformation

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a **Director, Design Lead, Wholesale Transformation**.

**Role purpose**

Wholesale Transformation acts as the change leaders for the Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking (GB) Businesses. The team leads the implementation of Global Strategic Programmes and are committed to innovate and partner with teams across the Bank to ensure Strategic Deliveries are completed on time, in budget and with benefits fully realized. The team aims to demonstrate that Transformation is a source of competitive advantage for HSBC.

This new role is a senior leadership position, reporting to the Head of Digital Transformation and Change Delivery - ASP, the **Director, Design Lead, Wholesale Transformation (DLWT)** is a key role responsible for providing leadership across c.40 Design resources within Wholesale Transformation, as well as leading on Digital design initiatives and projects as applicable.

**Key Responsibilities of the role holder will include**:

- Provide leadership across the Design discipline within Wholesale Transformation, define and lead on the workforce plan, demand management, programme resourcing and future skills development
- Define methods, patterns and standards for the Design discipline and outline and govern usage of tools relevant to the area
- Ensuring that the journeys, services and propositions we design and deliver to our end users are desirable, viable and feasible
- Responsible for supporting the deployment of billable Design resources into teams within the Wholesale Change the Bank (CTB) portfolio
- Ensure alignment to Group standards and practices
- Oversee performance and reward consistency; implement and run HR processes related to Career Development and Talent Management in conjunction with relevant Value Streams as these mature
- Input into the wider Wholesale Transformation workforce planning, and play an active role in ensuring the recruitment of the right skills, to grow WT’s capabilities as defined in the overarching workforce strategy
- Drive the delivery of complex design initiatives in accordance with existing industry best practices and methodologies
- Ownership, management and reporting of key performance metrics related to the Design discipline
- Support creation of Communities of Practice by practitioners, help market the Communities of Practice internally, encouraging participation from all areas of the organisation
- Further generating awareness, interest and support for customer experience and Design Thinking across the business

**Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders**

Accountable to the Head of Digital Transformation and Change Delivery as well as global and local stakeholders, the role holder will be required to:

- Provide leadership across the Design discipline to enable Wholesale to deliver programmes more effectively, efficiently and increase alignment to Group and Wholesale COO standards
- Effectively advising, contributing and challenging key ASP and non ASP programme deliveries by providing transparent and insightful feedback on customer experience and the solutions being delivered
- Support senior stakeholders in achieving standardisation, generating value and in ensuring alignment with the wider change portfolio and the group strategy, values and behaviours
- Accountability for the delivery of strategic initiatives across Wholesale Transformation
- Governance should be in accordance with Group standards policy and procedures
- Building strong relationships to embed consensus and deliver outcomes
- Ensuring strong collaboration with key stakeholders (market and global teams), enabling the Design team’s ability to execute at pace
